Personal post here: If you know me well, you know I’m passionate about delaying technology, SPECIFICALLY, smartphones as long as possible. I’m encouraged by the campaign “Wait until 8th” to encourage parents to delay smartphones for their kids until AT LEAST 8th grade. Participating in this campaign feels like we can actually make a tangible difference; it encourages parents to take the pledge together to not give their kids smartphones. That way there’s less pressure to have one for our child. Let’s stand together and let our kids be kids, they are on screens enough! Does your kid have a cell phone? READ if so!!!

Tech companies are racing to monetize intimacy with our kids through “My AI” (artificial intelligence) on social media platforms. Do we really want our 13 year olds seeking advice from a creepy source no one has vetted, that couldn’t pass a background check, that hasn’t been tested to be safe for our kids?! Parents and grandparents beware!

Today marks my first wedding without my Mom alive to help me out. She was with me on 90% of the wedding setups. She would loved this sweetheart table design . She especially loved lush arrangements like this..who wouldn’t ? I am so happy for the sweet couple Saray and Sergio…as they celebrate their union today we will be remembering my Mom’s incredible life of service to her family, her community and the Lord. Special thanks to Meghan and for helping me with the flowers. I miss you mom and love you more.

This is my mom on her wedding day 56 years ago. She went to be with Jesus unexpectedly on Monday , June 6. There is a huge hole in my heart and my life as I type this. Many of you who know me may have met her as I set up for your wedding or was at your venue: she was by my side most wedding days as my faithful and hardworking assistant. I paid her with lunch or dinner after the event she would help me with. Those were my favorite times with her. We would laugh about the challenges we ran across during setup or the groomsmen who were on their way to having too much to drink before the wedding. This Saturday is not only a wedding on my schedule but her memorial service. If you knew my mom and want to attend or want to support our family, message me and I will give you details of the location and time.

2020, though difficult for me in other more personal ways, provided the summer sabbatical I wanted from weddings. My summer was filled with wide open days with my two children who are growing up way too fast, outdoor dinners on the back porch with the whole fam and lots of days at the pool and walks in the neighborhood.

I am sad for my clients who had to cancel their weddings. I missed out on getting to know those bride’s and their families, which is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

However, It made the rescheduled fall weddings I got to do that much sweeter.

In the past, I have not done small arrangements for delivery, but I found that since people could not see each other in person, many wanted to bring cheer to their friends and loved ones by sending flowers. Therefore, I pivoted and took more of this type of floral work, and have been loving it! Seeing the joy on people’s faces when they get flowers is a beautiful thing 💜

I don’t know what 2021 looks like for me personally or professionally, but I’m trusting God that the best is yet to come.
