Our staff and board are creating new ways to connect with children and their families while the museum must remain closed. Through activities such as: scavenger hunts that get kids moving and looking at the environment around them, Gillie's Box of Creative Play - a subscription activity box that includes some of our favorite STEAM activities as well as original plays and opportunities to ZOOM with our team to create and build, and Gillie on the Go - an opportunity to check out and take home some favorite Gilbert House exhibits. Making new memories and keeping the holidays special is so important this year.We have created this fun activity you can do this weekend and share with friends and family you won't be able to gather with this year. Simply print complete each of the statements or make plans for each of the activities. Cut out the rectangles and create a countdown to Christmas chain that will let your loved ones know you are thinking of them even if you can't be together. Once you have completed the chain, be sure to drop it in the mail on Monday so the family you are sharing with will be able to begin their countdown. Don't have a box? Cut out the rectangles and put them in an envelope in the order you want them to put the chain together and have them count up to Christmas instead.

We just received this generous donation of 50 STEAM activity boxes for our kiddos. What a fun activity for this rainy weather. Thank you Gilbert House and Salem Health!

"COVID-19 may be keeping the Gilbert Children's Museum doors closed, but the dedicated staff has created "Gilbert House at Home" to continue providing children with hands-on learning and FUN! One of the anchors of this program is called Gillie's Box of Creative Play, a subscription service for activity boxes. Through the generous support of Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics, Gilbert House Children’s Museum is able to partner with CASA of Marion County to provide one month of boxes for 50 foster children.
