🎧 A Message to the Culture!
Let me speak on something that has been heavy on my mind, because I believe it needs to be said with honesty and without sugarcoating.
In this DJ industry, we have always operated under an unspoken code. ONE LOVE! You support me, I support you. You book me, I book you. That reciprocity was the backbone of this culture. It was not just business; it was brotherhood and sisterhood.
But somewhere in the last 8 to 10 years, that code has been quietly abandoned by many.
I have spent over three decades pouring into this industry, supporting fellow DJs, booking local talent, showing up for others, and investing in the community that helped build this culture. I have personally opened my stage and my events to DJs in cities and given them platforms, exposure, and opportunities.
I am not speaking from bitterness. I am speaking from a place of principle. Because this is not just my experience. Many DJs who have consistently given love to the community will tell you the same story….They support other DJs, but when it is their turn, the room is empty.
The culture of ONE LOVE did not die on its own. It was slowly replaced by self-interest, politics, and ego.
To the DJs who are still about the code, I see you and I respect you. To those who have forgotten where they came from, remember that someone opened a door for you too.
We are stronger together. Always have been. Always will be.
