I was 13 when I took this photo. It was my 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.

I have always found myself in the witness seat, even from a young age.

There are 2 things that I have control over in this life: My Breath & My Words.

So, as I take a deep breath, and figure out how to encapsulate these words of gratitude to those, who paid the ultimate sacrifice, for my freedom, to make this place I live safe for me to enter: Thank you

Thank you, for your bravery, may I learn from your courage

Thank you, for your commitment, may I learn from your discipline.

Thank you, for your fearlessness, may I teach my children to arm themselves with fearless devotion to what they believe in, what they stand for.

Thank you, for your selfless sacrifice, may I cloak myself with this same devotion to serving others.
