I love this post from my dear friend, Alexandra Hall of Hall & Oak Events. She’s been one of the biggest cheerleaders of The Palmer from Day One. We were connected from the start, long before we met, when I sold the house 12 years ago, to Alex’s sweet brother and sister-in-law, after my grandma died. (The Palmer belonged to friends of my great grandparents, the my grandma for 45 years. I sold it when she died and bought it back 10 years later.) I can’t imagine hosting an event without Alex at the helm as coordinator. She is so positive, cheery, and one of the most organized people you’ve ever met. We love hosting Hall & Oak brides for their bridal weekends.

May Availability update: The Palmer is available for your corporate and business meetings and retreats, wedding weekends, and overnight stays, May 21-May 26 and May 30-June 1. I can’t believe that May is half over! Website and Airbnb links are in the comments!

We opened to the public one year ago, and the month of May filled up quickly with a funeral, graduations, and people coming back to St. Marys to visit family. This year April was booked solid, and May is wide open.

The Palmer belonged to friends of my great grandparents, and the it was my grandma’s house for 45 years until she died when she was in her 90s. When she died, we sold the house to a family who did a top to bottom renovation.

Here in the dining room they removed the old built in pantry cabinet, plaster walls, linoleum floor, mantle, ceiling fan, and replaced the windows. They also opened up the door way between the living room and dining room. You can’t see it, but behind where this picture was taken, they also removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room to make an open concept. The open concept is what makes The Palmer what it is today.

The family sold to another family who installed the pantry and coffee bar. When I bought the house 10 years after selling it, I painted the walls, trim, installed new lighting, and replaced the coffee bar and kitchen countertops. This space is perfect for hosting and for brides and their bridal parties to spread out.

I can’t believe these are the same space!
