Hi neighbor! We’re changing our name and shifting our journey, and we’d like to invite you along for the ride!

The Flower & Plant Barn is now called The Gilded Greenhouse. While we will continue to be a garden center and florist shop offering home-grown plants, seasonal flowers, floral arrangements and bereavement offerings, you can now also find gifts for every occasion, houseplants of every size, and a space where beauty is discovered and inspiration flourishes. As we move into Fall and the Holiday seaso

n, you can also expect to see constant changes in product and plant offerings, as well as, classes and events that will delight all your senses! We invite you to come out and see all the beautiful updates.

🌿🍌Our Hardy Banana trees are coming alive!! They made it through their first winter, and are thriving in our front landscaping. They do not produce bananas, but they do provide some tropical flavor to your landscaping!! 🍌🌿

This past Fall, Bill sawed off the trunks down to the soil level. Then, we covered each tree with about 1' of mulch. This helps insulate them from the cold. Then, in late April this year, we uncovered the mulch to find little shoots coming up!! And now, with the sun and heat, they are going....well...bananas!!

Thank you Groovy Plants Ranch for these wonderful trees and helpful video guides on how to keep them happy!! We just love them 😍🌿

🌺🤩🌸It's Cut Flower Garden Time! We're at it again in our backyard, and this year, we kept some of our favorites - snapdragons, sunflowers, and zinnias - and tried out some Newcomers:

🌱Dill Bouquet - unique greenery for fresh cut arrangements, and highly recommended by my bestie and expert gardener, Alicia Luck 😘
🌸Statice - assorted colors, so far we can see purple popping through!!
☀Craspedia - these are small yellow ball flowers, very unique option for arrangements
😍Celosia Plumosa - looks like Troll hair in the photos!! Can't wait to see this pop up!

☀🌺😘Happy Father's Day to all the special dads out there! We hope you enjoy your day and make sweet memories with the ones you love most! ☀🌺😘

And, a special shout out to my dad, who is my cheerleader and behind-the-scenes magician! He is one of the dads responsible for many of the changes you see happening at the shop, and we couldn't do it without all his hardwork and support! Thank you, dad, and see you soon 😘

🌺✂️Let's talk CANNA pruning! If your canna look like the first picture - brown leaves, visible neon green balls, fading petal colors - then it's time to prune the bloom!! Follow the bloom stem down to the first set of leaves and snip the stem right ABOVE the leaves. You will need to use a set of pruners or garden scissors for this.✂️🌺

✂️💦☀With the warmer weather, flower care, pruning and dead-heading will be necessary in many cases to keep your flowers looking amazing. Don't forget to give your green babies a good drink everyday if it doesn't rain. We do have lots of rain ahead in the forecast, so you may get lucky and get out of watering for a few days!! ☀💦✂️

☀️☀️💦💦 With the increasing temps and sunshine, it's important to remember to consistently water your outdoor plants. Just think, Bill watered your Gilded plants every morning for at least 3 months in a protected, cooler temperature environment. Now that you have your green babies at home in the sun and heat, you must continue to give them a good drink everyday. ☀️☀️💦💦

Some things to consider:
* Water at the soil, not on top of leaves or blooms
* Water evenly around the rim of the pot/planter/hanging basket️
* Watering in the morning helps avoid mold issues
* Sun-loving plants need a lot of water usually. Water enough to see the water coming out of drainage holes.
