Services: Saturday February 25, 2023 at 12 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood

Visitation: Friends may call two hours prior to the service beginning at 10 am at the funeral home in Richwood

Matthew VanFossen Sr.Matthew VanFossen Sr., 64 of Richwood, passed from this life at his home on February 17, 2023 after a battle with cancer.

He was born January 26, 1959 in Wheeling, WV to Lewis and Lillian (Bethel) Van Fossen. Matt was a graduate of River (Hannibal) High School where he was a wrestler. He enjoyed many things such dirt track racing, collecting model cars and John Deere tractors, NASCAR (especially Dale Earnhardt,) The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Steelers, and the several dogs and cats that he loved during his life. Matt had worked at M.E.I. in Marysville for over 5 years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Joan "Jalan" Antill, and other extended family members. He is survived by his sons, Matthew Jr. (Eric) VanFossen of Saint Marys, West Virginia and Sean Van Fossen of Kenton, his brother Fred (Laura) Van Fossen of Richwood, his companion, love, and significant other Julia Sessler and their dog, “Gunner,” and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 25, 2023 at 12 noon at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor Joseph Rhea will officiate. Friends may call two hours prior to the service beginning at 10 am at the funeral home in Richwood.
