Hello pizza people! Chef Maaren here. Sean and I had the delight of eating at The Deliciouser - a modern spice shop, bar, and intimate dining venue - in Madison a few weeks ago, and I wanted to share my thoughts on that experience with you.
When Sean and I are looking for a place to eat, we try to determine if we are paying for the rent or the food. Places off the beaten path have to work harder and offer a better experience than a place that has a great view. These are the spots where you will find chefs working to deliver a meal that expands people's palettes and food knowledge.
Chef Patrick at The Deliciouser does an excellent job at this. He takes some of the freshest ingredients and puts them together in a way that will make your tastebuds sing. The chilled corn soup was my personal favorite, and was genuinely one of the best meals I've had. You could see in Patrick's eyes when he started talking about the spices just how excited, curious, and far down the rabbit hole he goes. Food always tastes better when someone cares about it deeply.
Everyone we met there - Chef Patrick, Marcia the Operations Manager, and Roy our waiter - were warm, open hearted, wonderful, welcoming people.
Eating at The Deliciouser was the highlight of my weekend in Madison, and we will absolutely be back!
