Tree 1 of 3 is finished! How many trees do you have in your house? I do my pretty coordinated tree in our living room, our sentimental/nostalgic ornaments in our bedroom, and my son has a mini one that he decorates with his toy cars and small ornaments!

Now that I’ve shared everything I loved about our wedding day, here’s what I learned (as both a bride + event planner):

🌸 Real flowers are 100% worth it. We had faux flowers and looking back, I wish I invested in real flowers or high-quality faux florals instead so that they looked better and I could preserve them!
🪑 I wish I’d communicated better with family about seating during the ceremony — it caused some confusion in the moment and left some awkward gaps in the rows.
📸 I made a list of family portraits, but I have a big family and still missed a few key people (some of my sisters and brothers-in-law didn’t make it into any portraits!)
🍽️ Assigned seating at tables would have made the reception smoother. I didn’t think it was necessary at the time, but I would definitely do it to avoid confusion among guests!
📷 I wish we had taken a photo with each table at the reception! I love this idea to make sure you say hello to everyone and to have a memory to cherish forever.
💍 We recorded private vows and I wish we played them over our first dance to add a special touch.
🕺 Speaking of, PRACTICE your first dance!! We didn’t, and it showed lol
🍰 Could’ve gone without the cake cutting — it didn’t add much for us and I would have rather spent more time dancing!
🎧 Communicate very clearly with your DJ — and choose one you really trust! Ours played songs that were on my “do not play” list and didn’t get to some of the songs I really wanted. Thankfully, we got that corrected halfway through the night, but before that I was really upset!
💐 Skipped the bouquet and garter toss — no regrets
📵 We had an unplugged ceremony, but I’d make the sign way more visible next time, or have the officiant make a firm announcement before starting
