Hi it's me! Jess, your wedding florist and flower grower.
March is in exciting time for the flower farmers. I've just started 'waking up' my dahlia tubers - pulling them out of storage and letting the eyes sprout. We pot them up under grow lights and usually have full-fledged plants in the ground by mid-late May.
Although maybe an uncommon practice, because it's it quite cumbersome and space-consuming, it allows us to have flowers by early July, often at the end of June.
We continue to do it this way, because who doesn't want just a few more weeks with this beautiful (and our favorite) flower.
Here's some of of favs we've grown over the last 5 years; many tubers come from our flower farmer friends like and we have new additions this year coming from . Almost every tuber we have originated from our own farm or from another Vermont grower, we take pride in that.
