Drive south on the 101 past Paso Robles and the landscape softens — golden hills rolling into oak woodlands, the road threading through wine country that has quietly become one of California’s great heritage regions. Atascadero sits at the heart of it. A Central Coast town named for the Spanish word meaning “place where water lingers,” surrounded by Templeton, Edna Valley, Cambria, and the small wine estates that have spent decades building reputations the way California heritage is always built — slowly, honestly, without rush. The architecture borrows from French Provence and Spanish ranchos in equal measure. Limewashed barns, weathered oak floors, sun-bleached linens drying in the afternoon breeze. That world — California’s quiet French Country answer to Napa’s louder fame — is the world The Atascadero belongs to.

Crafted by Restoration Hardware in their Vintage French tradition, these chairs carry the patinated soul of pieces pulled from a Loire Valley estate. The frames are limewashed oak, finished to that pale weathered tone that signals real wood aged by hand, not stained by machine. There is exactly one place in California where the architecture of the Roaring Twenties still stands untouched by time.

Twenty-six miles off the coast of Los Angeles, the white walls of the Avalon Casino rise above the harbor on Catalina Island — a 1929 Art Deco landmark where Bing Crosby, Glenn Miller, and Benny Goodman once played to ballroom crowds who arrived by steamship from the mainland. The building is cream and gold, channel-fluted along its rotunda, and lit from within at golden hour like a piece of jewelry set into the cliffside.

The Avalon Collection was made for that moment.
