"In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." ✨

Spent some time behind the lens today tracking local wildlife, and nature decided to give me the ultimate photography gift. I stumbled across this gorgeous little fawn just 12 feet away! 🥹🦌

Capturing sharp details and fast, high-speed movement in the wild requires immense patience, but the rewards are unforgettable. I still can't get over how beautifully the sunlight catches its spots as it transitions from the deep brush out into the open grass.

☀️ Gear Breakdown:

Body: Nikon D850

Lens: Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm VR

Support: Padded Camera Hand Strap with Secure Tether (perfect for staying mobile and ready for sudden movement!)

"In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." ✨

Spent some time behind the lens capturing the incredible texture, color, and motion of our local wildlife. The highlights of the day had to be tracking the powerful flight of the Osprey and spending a quiet, unforgettable moment watching this beautiful speckled fawn step out into the sunlight. 🦅🦌

Capturing these split-second glances and high-speed movements requires patience, but the rewards are always worth it.

Patience behind the lens always pays off. 🌲✨

Tracking this beautiful Red-Shouldered Hawk through the canopy required quiet steps, split-second timing, and the right gear. By pairing my Nikon D850 with the Nikon Nikkor 70mm-300mm lens, I was able to isolate the stunning, raw textures of its plumage and the intense focus in its eyes, all while maintaining a respectful distance in the wild.

From elegant full-length profiles to high-resolution close-ups of its talons gripping the bark, nature never ceases to amaze me.

🦅 Fine Art Wildlife: Capturing the Spirit of the Canopy🌲📸

As a photographer, there is nothing quite like the thrill of a patient, quiet moment in nature. I recently had the incredible privilege of tracking and documenting this magnificent Red-Shouldered Hawk, capturing the raw textures and intense focus of one of our local forest predators.

To bring out the micro-details without disturbing the bird, I utilized my Nikon D850 paired with a Nikon Nikkor 70mm-300mm lens. The reach and compression of this setup allowed me to capture stunning clarity from a respectful distance. In these shots, you can see every fine detail from the delicate downy feathers on its chest to the powerful grip of its talons on the textured, lichen-covered bark.

Working purely with the natural, dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy, the lighting beautifully separates the hawk from the lush green foliage while maintaining deep, rich dimensional shadows across its profile.

Swipe through the gallery to explore the series:

Frame 1 (Red-Shoulder Hawk.jpg): An elegant, full-length vertical perspective highlighting the hawk’s warm rufous-amber breast bars as it scans the ground below.

Frame 2 (Red-Shoulder Hawk1.jpg): A quiet moment showcasing the fine plumage textures along the nape of its neck in the soft canopy light.

Frame 3 (Red-Shoulder Hawk2.jpg): The hawk turns to lock eyes directly with the camera, revealing the striking, checkerboard patterns of black and white across its wings.

Frame 4 (Red-Shoulder Hawk3.jpg): A high-resolution, detailed close-up focusing on its powerful grip and the sharp, bright yellow features near its beak.

Frame 5 (Red-Shoulder Hawk4.jpg): A final, commanding portrait capturing the classic silhouette of a raptor on high alert.

Whether it’s action sports, documentary storytelling, or fine-art wildlife portraits, capturing the true texture of a moment is what drives my work.

Eyes in the Foliage ✨🐈‍⬛

Peer closely into the green undergrowth or behind a garden fence, and you might just catch someone watching you back.

These neighborhood strays are masters of blending in. Tracked carefully through the Nikon D850 paired with the Nikon 300mm VR lens, their world comes alive in crisp detail. From a soft grey face framed perfectly by a lichen-covered tree to a striking tuxedo coat peeking through the ivy leaves, their gaze is always watchful and completely captivating. It’s a privilege to slow down and document these brief, beautiful encounters with the animals that share our outdoor spaces.

Up close with nature's finest details. 🔴✨

There’s something magical about isolating a single moment in the wild, catching the perfect daylight that highlights every individual feather against a soft, deeply blurred natural background.

🌿 A Tale of Two Cardinals 🌿

Had a wonderful session tracking these beautiful neighbors today. From the striking, fiery red of the male cardinal holding court in the branches to the soft, elegant earth tones of the female cardinal ground-feeding in the grass, nature’s contrast is always stunning.

Finding the perfect balance of light and patience to capture these intimate wildlife moments is what makes documentary photography so rewarding. Which shot is your favorite? 👇

✨ **Fresh, vibrant, and 100% organic!** 🌿🍽️

Swapped out the classic white plates for a fresh new look! I wanted to see how the rich colors of this freshly cooked Mediterranean feast would pop against different textured backdrops and earthy tableware, all captured on my Nikon D850 with a 50mm prime lens. 📸✨

On the menu today:
🧄 **Garlic Herb Tofu** – Thick, organic tofu squares tossed in premium cold-pressed organic olive oil and baked to a perfect golden hue with a rustic herb and pepper crust. Kept pure and simple in its own cast-iron style baking dish.
🌱 **Mediterranean Quinoa** – A fluffy blend of organic red and white quinoa tossed with iron-rich dark leafy greens, plump chickpeas, and a bright new addition, juicy, sliced red and yellow cherry tomatoes for a perfect burst of color and acidity! 🍅

I love experimenting with different tones from sleek stoneware to warm wood grains to find the perfect contrast for plant-based textures. Flat, soft lighting with no harsh shadows keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on fresh, wholesome food. 💪💚
