Last year while roaming through Portugal, my friend Nachi asked why I always have at least 3 drinks in front of me.
Obviously, I thought he was nuts. That’s just weird.
But he wasn’t wrong. For a while, I kept sending him photos of my daily —until I got bored. (Ladies, how many times do you really wanna tell a guy he’s right? 😉) I’m sure I blew it off the way I always do: “I don’t know. I’m just weird. We don’t ask why.”
Turns out, it’s a total ADHD/AuDHD thing. There’s a whole TikTok genre about it. My personal lineup? Water in the Yeti, caffeine/energy drink, and a fun beverage of choice. On ADHD Island.... ITS NOT WEIRD!!!
I spent a lifetime trying to own my “weird.” Trying to have confidence in my sparkly, unique self—or at least fake it ’til it stuck. Which is why it absolutely threw me when I wandered into my first AuDHD groups on social media.
Honestly? It sparked a bit of an existential crisis. It took me months to shake it. (Now you are seeing why I felt the need to communicate this entire odyssey of madness)
See, I'm ginger... we ALWAYS stand out in a crowd. (Okay, except in Ireland. Too many redheads. I did not love that.) So it was a shock to realize that so much of what I thought was me—my personality, my quirks, my sparkle—turned out to be my two inner neurotypes fighting over who gets to shine and show off.
Symptoms. AuDHD expression.
Not querky at all... see what I did with Erin's Quirks? I crack myself up!!
As it turns out, there’s a whole world of people who are querky and discovering all that I've discovered the past few months.
A whole world of people Just. Like. Me. 🧩✨
