🚛📚 What a day at the Oak Park Public Library!

We rolled up in our all-electric LRS truck for Touch a Truck and had the best time bringing recycling to life.

📖 Our driver read The Big Sort Aluminum Adventures with Fran the Can while the librarian shared their most checked out recycling book. Then it was time for a music parade with marching, playing instruments and singing recycling songs.

💬 The kids asked great questions about what it is like to be a garbage truck driver before taking turns in the driver’s seat to honk the horn.

Everyone went home with:
✅ A copy of Aluminum Adventures
✅ A Fran the Can plushie
✅ A recycling coloring book
✅ A charm for their summer reading necklace

Starting today, May 5, 2025, there will be an important change to your service. Waste will be collected first on your service day, with recycling picked up next by the same driver ♻️. This means that collection times for waste and recycling will vary throughout your service day. ⏰Please have your materials out by 7 am to ensure your items are collected. Thank your cooperation in keeping Dekalb clean and sustainable! 🙌

🚛❄️A special delivery on one of the coldest days of the year!❄️🚛

On a chilly day in Villa Park, one of our drivers Walter brought some warmth and joy to Reid's day with a surprise visit! Reid was over the moon to meet the person behind the garbage truck he loves watching so much. His mom shared with us that this would be a thrill of his life as he loves watching the truck go by every week. We provided him some LRS gear and officially welcomed to our Trash Trackers Fan Group! Shoutout to our Maywood team for coordinating this heartwarming visit.

Snow is forecasted in our service areas on Wednesday, February 12 and is expected to continue into Thursday morning, which may impact service. Our team is closely monitoring conditions, and any service delays or cancellations will be shared on our website and on our local pages.

To help ensure safe and uninterrupted service, please follow these winter weather tips: ✔️ Set carts out the night before to avoid potential delays
✔️ Clear a path around your trash and recycling carts
✔️ Use salt where carts will be placed to prevent slipping
✔️ Place carts on a flat, accessible area away from snowdrifts
✔️ Keep lids closed to prevent snow buildup and wind-blown debris
