Let’s talk Prom Bouquets! Examples included!
I changed my pricing/color options from how I’ve previously done it and wanted to explain the reason for the change.
As I’m sure you know the price of flowers has a huge range depending on the type of flower, color, season, etc. A standard pink carnation cost significantly less than a pink peony. A unique colored garden rose is going to be way more than a standard white tea rose. The more it cost me to buy a certain flower from a wholesaler, the more I have to charge my clients. And we all know that everything is crazy expensive right now! Flowers being shipped from Ecuador to the US have increased between 10-25% from this time last year. I do a lot of research and price comparisons so I can to make sure I’m getting a good cost but not sacrificing the quality of the flower.
I noticed last prom season and this past hoco season that I was having a lot of requests for blue flowers, and bouquets that had lots of color variaton. I absolutely love making super colorful bouquets but didn’t feel it was very fair to charge someone that wanted a classic white and green bouquet the same as a person wanting a bouquet with blues, pinks, yellows, and peach. There are very few blue flowers that grow in nature, and most are pricey. Plus, making a bouquet with multiple colors and shades takes me more time than making one that is all in the same color family.
This is why I decided to make two different price points for the color schemes. The standard color scheme offers monochromatic options, and the premium offers a variety of colors in popular palettes.
I also wanted to offer two different sizes plus a signature flower option and a custom design option so that everyone could have the opportunity to get what best fits their budget and style! I’m will see how it goes this year! Who knows, it might suck and I never do it this way again 😂 However it goes, I can promise you that I will continue to put my all in to each and every order!
