The threat of all-day thunderstorms brought us indoors, but Glidden House gave us the perfect setting for glamorous, studio-lit portraits. These intentional, posed moments are some of my favorites when the timeline allows. And once the portraits were finished, Dj Dina and Lime Lights Entertainment | Cleveland Wedding DJ turned it into a PARTY. ✨

When there’s a little extra time during an engagement session, I love having the freedom to experiment.

Once we’ve gotten the photos we came for, that extra time gives me space to play with my camera, push my settings, try something I’ve been thinking about, or break a few of the traditional rules of photography just to see what happens.

Sometimes it’s something I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t had the right opportunity for yet. I might have an idea of where I want to go with it without knowing exactly what the final image will look like until I make it.

That kind of experimentation is such an important part of what keeps photography creative for me. It’s how I discover new techniques, find new ways of seeing things and continue developing my work instead of making the same images over and over again.

And it requires trust.

I really appreciate the clients who give me the space to try something new, even when they can’t quite see what I’m seeing yet. Some of my favorite images have come from simply having the time and trust to experiment.

A little reintroduction, because both I and this business have changed a lot over the past year.

I’m Anita. I’m a wedding photographer, a new mom to Clara, a sister, a daughter, a friend and a person who has learned that life rarely unfolds neatly.

This year has held some of my happiest moments and some of my hardest. There have been beginnings, endings, celebrations, grief and more transitions than I ever felt prepared for. Through all of it, I’ve continued to show up for my business with a camera in each hand, digital & film.

Photographing weddings is my job, but I never forget that the day I’m walking into may be one of the biggest days of someone else’s life. The meetings, preparation, dress steaming, button fastening, family wrangling and quiet check ins all matter to me. The care I have for my clients and their families is real. By the end of a full wedding weekend, I often feel like part of the family.

On Friday, we celebrated my brother Bill and his wife at their wedding reception. It was incredibly sweet to celebrate something so joyful during the same week that we lost our dad. Weddings have a way of bringing people together. They remind you how loved and supported you are, even when life is heavy. Being surrounded by our loved ones didn’t erase the grief, but it gave us a place to hold both the sadness and the happiness together.

And somehow, through all of this, Bill and I are still texting about our ongoing watermelon growing contest. He is winning, but he used fertilizer and didn’t start from seed, so I consider myself the underdog even though I am still fruitless.

Maybe that’s what life is. Weddings and funerals. Babies and businesses. Grief and ridiculous watermelon updates. Seasons that carry us and seasons we have to push through ourselves.

Here are some photos from this year, many taken by my incredible second photographer Taylor columbus ohio photographer , with a few filtered Clara appearances and pieces of life mixed in. I’m so grateful for the people who continue inviting me into their lives. Thank you for trusting me with the moments you’ll carry with you long after the day is over. 🤍

I’ve been falling more and more in love with shooting film, especially with my Contax G2.

There’s been something so fun about discovering which film stocks I’m drawn to, learning how each one handles light and color a little differently, and seeing how they translate a wedding day.

But I think my favorite part is the nostalgia. Film has a way of making a moment feel like a memory almost instantly. A little imperfect, a little unpredictable, and so full of feeling.

I love mixing these frames into my wedding galleries alongside digital. They bring a different texture to the story and feel like photographs you could have pulled from an old family album — except they’re yours, happening right now.

Still experimenting, still finding my favorites, and definitely bringing the Contax G2 along for a lot more wedding days. 🤍

Melissa’s getting ready photos felt especially meaningful this past weekend. She got ready in her grandmother’s home, the same house where her mother grew up and where so many of their family’s memories have taken shape.

Her grandfather was an architect and designed the home himself. Every open room, beautiful window and balcony felt intentional, as though the house had been created for a lifetime of gathering, growing and remembering.

As Melissa prepared for her wedding, the flower girls gave her their complete attention, watching as if a real princess were getting ready for the ball. It was incredibly sweet to photograph and such a beautiful way to let the anticipation of the day slowly build.

There is something so special about beginning a new chapter in a place that already holds so much of your family’s story.

This is one of my favorite years as a wedding photographer. Every wedding I’ve done this year has dream clients, incredible locations, vendors and planning and a top-tier guest list that brings the vibes. Yesterday kept me on cloud-9 working my dream job. When people ask me what I do for a living I say “I go to parties, create art and preserve memories and emotions”
