🎧🔥 PROUD INSTRUCTOR MOMENT! 🔥🎧

Remember my DJ-101 student who was working on beat counting, dropping on the 1, and learning that every transition doesn't need fireworks?

Well… she wanted to DJ out in the wild BAD. 😂 So what did she do?

SHE found somewhere to PLAY!

She signed up for a set at The Pinhook in Durham, and then she WORKED. She practiced her set. Recorded it. Re-recorded it. Then re-re-recorded it until she was happy with it. 😂

Then it was SHOWTIME. 🎶

And she learned something every DJ eventually learns:

DJing at home and DJing in front of an actual crowd are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!

Did every transition happen exactly like she practiced it? Nope.

Did she panic and stop? NOPE.

She stayed on beat, trusted what she'd learned, got to the next song and KEPT THE MUSIC MOVING! 💃🏾🕺🏾

That's DJing.

Shoot, every transition I make doesn't go exactly as planned either! The skill is knowing how to recover without letting the dance floor know anything happened.

And needless to say…

SHE KILLED IT! 🔥🔥🔥

She walked away with compliments from other DJs AND partygoers about her set. As her DJ-101 instructor, THAT'S the part that makes me proud. She took what we've been working on in class, practiced it, then had the courage to actually go use it.

Now we're just waiting to see when that hour-long Blendr set is happening. 👀🤞🏾🎧

DJ-101 isn't just about learning which buttons to push. We're building DJs.
