The Trail of Trees project seeks to heal the rifts between humans and the Earth, focusing on mending cultural and geographic schisms that have marked human history on earth. By establishing a route along the Trail of Tears and expanding it globally, we acknowledge the inhumane treatment and forcible relocation of Indigenous peoples away from their ancestral lands. This initiative reconnects humanity and encourages a relationship with the Earth that honors Indigenous wisdom and our key role in the symbiosis of mother earth as her human stewards.

Through the planting of trees along routes laden with historic sorrow, the project symbolically transforms sites of loss into living testaments of resilience and renewal. New life emerges from the seeds of hope and love planted in past tragedy.
Each tree serves not only as a marker of memory but as a promise for future generations—a growing symbol of healing, remembrance, and unity. By weaving together stories, landscapes, and communities, the Trail of Trees aspires to cultivate deeper stewardship for the planet and a profound respect for the intertwined destinies of people and places along the Trail of Tears and other routes by which indigenous people were forced to travel in their relocation.
