*This special screening is a No Pass Engagement*
Showtime: Thursday, July 17, 5:30pm
TICKETS: https://tinyurl.com/3rs46hmx

Come join us at the Strand as we join forces with Trekkers to present a special screening of GRAND RAPIDS MOON following a Post-screening Q&A with producer/actor John Charles Meyer, actor Etienne Eckert, actor W.C. Meyer, and Trekkers Principal Program Manager TJ Morris. A portion of ticket sales from this event will benefit Trekkers

Shot with only the equipment that a cast and crew of eight could carry on two 41-mile hikes (one in 20-degree December and one in 95-degree June), GRANITE RAPIDS MOON is the first narrative feature to shoot the majority of its footage inside the Grand Canyon.

The filmmakers are touring US theaters for single-night Q&A screenings throughout 2025, with the first 20+ screenings scheduled in CA, DC, VA, FL, ME, VT, and MI. Ten percent of the film’s profits will be donated to Grand Canyon Conservancy, Leave No Trace, and Plastic Free Restaurants, and a portion of ticket sales at specific events will also benefit select local non-profits (such as TREKKERS at the Strand screening). Fans of Allison Janney or Bryan Cranston won’t want to miss EVERYTHING’S GOING TO BE GREAT, a story that blends sharp humor with poignant family dynamics. Playing through Thursday.

On Thursday at 5:30pm, we have an incredible film that absolutely needs to be seen on the big screen! Set in the Grand Canyon, GRANITE RAPIDS MOON is the first narrative feature to shoot the majority of its footage inside the rim. Plus the film’s director will be in the house for Q&A following the screening. The best part? This is a fundraiser for the local youth mentoring organization Trekkers! A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to support their programs.

Two new films open on Friday: THE LAST CLASS captures former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, a master educator, wrestling with the dual realities of his own aging and his students inheriting a world out of balance. One thousand students fill the biggest lecture hall on campus to hear his final assignment: Who will be the teachers of tomorrow?

Also opening on Friday is the winner of the Audience Award for Best Narrative at the Tribeca Film Festival: the hilarious new comedy BAD SHABBOS, which follows an engaged couple who are about to have their parents meet for the first time over a Shabbat dinner on New York’s Upper West Side. Kyra Sedgwick and Cliff “Method Man” Smith lead an incredible ensemble cast.
