Ladies it's alteration time for spring and early summer weddings.

If your wedding is in May or June you should book your first alteration appointment ASAP. Don't forget to purchase your shoes.

If your wedding is in April you need to run! You need time for 2 appointments and time for the work to be completed before your wedding.

The only exception to this is for out of state/country bridesmaids. They need to book now for last minute appointments that allow time for the work to be done also. There are limited openings for these.

Ladies,
It's time to start booking your alteration appointments for spring weddings.

Please have the shoes you will be wearing with the dress with you for each appt. Any special undergarments are important to have also as they change how your dress fits.

Occasionally Santa needs a new suit. He ordered his beautiful suit from Alexis Kay Bridal. In the pics my sister Connie Scott is adding the embroidery to his jacket.

No need to fear, one of his helpers picked up the completed suit and is delivering it to him today. I'll take pics of him when he stops for an early visit on Christmas Eve.

It's been 42 years since I made my own dress. All the lace and beading was sewn by hand. My grandmother made my bouquet and we made my hat together.
Yes, those are 1983 sleeves. I had a high neck because my collar bone stuck out top far.

Ladies, if you are under 5'4" you should order this mermaid shape dress with custom measurements. The bridal salon should know this. Otherwise go somewhere else.

Buy it off the rack and you should understand that each of the curves of this dress will be several inches further down your body. Example, the tight area at the knees will be down at the middle of your calf. Several inches will have to be removed at the bottom.

Expect the cost of removing the hem lace, shortening the hem and then sewing the lace back on to be expensive.

When we had this satin dress hanging in the stores it required 2 hangers. I was so heavy it would break just one. It was a beautiful dress though.

Why should you consider a custom designed gown or a redesign of you mother's gown instead of ordering from a salon.

The 30% tariffs from China will be passed on to you. Here is a statement from one of the suppliers.

"Despite our hopes for the removal of these tariffs, their extension means that the elevated rates will remain in effect.

Unfortunately, we can no longer absorb only 14% of the additional tariff surcharge.

Therefore, effective August 14, 2025, a tariff surcharge of 20% (increased from the previous 14%) will be applied to all products originating from China."
