About a month ago, I was driving back to the farm at dusk and came upon a barred owl that had been hit by a car. If you follow us you know I’m a big wild bird fan.

I stopped to see if it was still alive and it was! I carefully gathered it up and brought it home, keeping it warm and safe in a box in a dark room and then began calling and texting my bird community to find help for it.

Thankfully Anne Elise was able to come to the rescue and she brought it to the Ohio Wildlife Center in Columbus.

I hesitated to post anything about the owl (whom Kat named Curtain - another story for another day), because while it had no broken wings, the head trauma was bad and I was very worried it wouldn’t survive.

But! The happy news is that it did survive and today we will release it back into the wild! Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing the moments we release this beautiful creature back into the woods where it belongs 💕
