🌈 A Heartfelt Thank You to the Quad Cities Pride Alliance Board of Directors 🌈

As the excitement of another incredible Quad Cities Pride Festival begins to settle, we want to take a moment to recognize the dedicated volunteers who make it all happen.

Behind every vendor booth, entertainment act, sponsor partnership, community outreach event, flag installation, meeting, email, and late-night planning session are 8 PASSIONATE VOLUNTEERS serving on the Quad Cities Pride Alliance Board of Directors.

These individuals give countless hours throughout the year, not for recognition, but because they believe in creating a stronger, more inclusive Quad Cities where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and celebrated. They balance careers, families, and personal commitments while working tirelessly to bring Pride to our community.

The festival may only last a weekend, but the work behind it happens year-round.

To our Board of Directors: thank you for your leadership, your dedication, your vision, and your unwavering commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community. Your hard work created a weekend filled with joy, connection, visibility, and pride for thousands of people.

πŸ’œ If you see one of our board members, be sure to thank them for everything they do to make Pride possible.

Together, they prove that a small group of dedicated volunteers can make a tremendous impact.

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Thank you, QCPA Board of Directors. We couldn't do it without you.

We were honored to accept the proclamation for Pride Month from the City of Rock Island Government and Mayor Harris!

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆMayor Ashley Harris issued a proclamation during Monday night's City Council meeting recognizing June as Pride Month. The proclamation was accepted by Nate Berthoud, Brent Smith-Gleason and Daniel Gleason of the Quad Cities Pride Alliance, who said nearly 4,000 people attended Pride Fest over the weekend in Schwiebert Park. "We'd like to thank the City for partnering with us as well as Downtown Rock Island," Daniel Gleason said. "We have donated 80 flags for downtown and we'll continue to grow that so we can paint the downtown in rainbows during Pride Month."

The proclamation reads in part, "The Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Q***r plus (LGBTQ+) communities of Rock Island are an integral part of the vibrant culture and climate of Rock Island. The diverse LGBTQ+ community continues to contribute to the widespread academic, economic, artistic and social spheres within and around our greater community.

"The month of June was designated as Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, which occurred in June of 1969 and are generally recognized as the catalyst of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. The City of Rock Island remains committed to protecting the civil rights of LGBTQ+ communities as the power and purpose of this iconic event proved vital in our unified effort to forge a more open and just society."
