Step into the world through the eyes of a black dancer. Sometimes, it's hard to put into words the emotions that stir within us. One day, as a passionate ballet lover, I decided to watch various performances of the cherished Nutcracker. But as I sat there, excitement mingled with a heavy sadness.
It struck me like a weight on my heart – there was no black ballerina on that stage. I realized that the dream of seeing someone who looked like me in such a professional setting was distant. The disappointment was overwhelming.
In response, I took it upon myself to create a platform where every dancer, regardless of their background, could shine. Now, as we prepare for our 2023 TDCN production, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation to all the incredibly talented individuals out there, no matter where you come from or what you look like.
