Hi My Friends
I recently photographed Tom Hart and his daughter, Jade at the new restaurant, "The Fountain," in where the old "Sonrise Donuts" used to be on 9th Street. After taking the photos, I learned they owned "The Stadium" restaurant as well. Their menu is based on smoked food like chicken, pork and brisket. gave it a try and enjoyed the smoked chicken sandwich.
Shortly after photographing Tom, I attended a car show at the Sherman Park where music was playing during the car show. The music was Johnny Cash songs entirely. The music sounded quite good and I learned the singer was Tom Hart. If you get a chance and if you like Johnny Cash, Tom does a fine job of covering his music. My favorite song was a Johnny Cash version of a Nine Inch Nails song, "Hurt." Tom sings it excellently!

Hello My friends,
Recently I was hired to photograph the "5th Street Gem," owned by Lakeisha Purchase, for the Springfield Business Journal. She was in the photo taken in front of her business. It was previously, Sebastian's, home of the excellent blue cheese potato soup. I took her photo at twilight when you could see the sign lit up. Thankfully, she seemed to like the photo, so I was hired to take some photos for promotion. It was a fun shoot and I liked helping her promote her new business. Hopefully she will prosper and the photos will pay off!
Here are some photos from the shoot.

Best Wishes,
Steve

Hello Lincoln Land Beekeeper Association Members,

The 2025 Illinois State Fair Honey Competition is coming August 7 - 17 this year, The date for the LLBA Professional display is set up on Wednesday, August 6. We will be preparing and our July 10 meeting will be discussing who can provide what and who can help with the setup. The display will be up in the Illinois Building for the run of the 2025 Illinois State Fair. All entries will be returned and you can pick up them up Sunday, August 17 at Noon.
Here is the list of individual required parts of the display. Additionally I have included a "Moisture" chart showing points awarded for moisture range.
Please consider participating since the LLBA is dependent on the competition to support the clubs funding. All honey is returned so there is no cost to donating. It is also a learning experience that helps educate the beekeeper in how to display your honey and prepare it for proper sale to the public.

Hello my good friends,

Recently I was hired to take photos of a visit to Springfield by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem. I had no idea the context of the visit. Turns out, a woman had been murdered by a migrant and it was being turned into a political show. With no regard for the family of the victim.
So I took several photos during the press conference in front of the victim’s home. At the same time another press conference was being held by the Governor’s Mansion. Kristi Noem spoke about immigrants and crime. The most notable question was, “Did you know the Mother of the victim was at the Press Conference by the Governor’s Mansion?” Krist Noem seemed surprised but probably not. She avoided going to the Mansion, where she originally was supposed to go but the threat of protestors seemed to alter plans. They eventually found there way there.
None of the photos I took were used. Which normally that would have bothered me. Instead a photo of the victim’s Mother by yhe Governor’s Mansion was used. It is on the first page of the story attached.

Hello My friends! Wishing you all wellness! Photography has remained a fun way to make a living with meeting new people and recording their lives in part. The most recent of these is the Springfield Business Journal, "Women of Influence" article. Fortunately, I had been assigned this job a year ago too. So I will share the photos taken in the way that I provided them. Which is not necessarily how they were used. I hope you like the choices! https://www.illinoistimes.com/news-opinion/a-bill-to-boost-beer-breweries-20073014?media=AMP+HTML
