Hard to put into words the wonderful weekend we had. We finished our season with 2 final weddings, full of beautiful colors and our dahlias. I hope it's never lost on me that I get to do this, that couples choose me time and time again to bring their visions to life. We also made homemade pasta with Claire (mistakes were made, but she loved it!), quackingham palace is almost done (!!!), and can't discount the swingset action! More thoughts on our season to come.

One of our biggest fall tasks is seed saving, especially the zinnias! They're truly one of our biggest workhorses! My mom and I have been saving seeds together for years! Last years, all the zinnias in this field came from a SINGLE 5 gallon bucket of seeds we saved in 2025! Hoping to triple this space next year! Wish us luck! Also, totally think you can hear us cracking up and me giving her directions to "pop out on the count of three!" 😂😂!

Scenes from a beautiful weekend! Sometimes, Xav and I will sit at our kitchen counter and proclaim, "No one has it better than us." It's entirely too true. We have a healthy baby, a big yard, endless projects, 4 golden retrievers, and an old swing set that Claire is breathing life back into. Forever thankful for this wonderful life...and for the fact that I bought the big pack of flagging tape. It's Claire's favorite toy and it IS EVERYWHERE.

Ok! Back to dahlias! Hoping (wishing, needing??) today is the day that I tag some of these babies! I don't know that I'm going to get over the storm of 2026 this year. I look out at the field and wish over and over again that I would have planned differently. You just never know what the weather might do. We're going to handle staking substantially differently next season. Hindsight, as they say, is always 20/20. The storm dramatically impacted our blooms and things still feel a bit delayed. Hoping to bloom verify the rest of the dahlias and then, hopefully, put everyone to bed. Myself included lol.

Another local grower said they were expecting frost, so naturally, I did not sleep at all thinking about all the tasks that still must be completed (see details on tagging). I checked our weather, and we have no frost in sight. Hoping it stays that way!

Happy second birthday to our Super Kitty loving, candy-filled, outside enthusiast, Claire! We love you so, so much, baby girl! Claire is all that is good in the world (unless she's upset and trying to bite you). She loves her puppies and kitties (they're not quite there yet lol), being outside playing in flowers, laying in the grass or on the pavement taking in the sunshine, watching her ducklings, and of course, NOT SLEEPING. She is so much fun, has an absolutely extraordinary vocabulary for only being 2 and is so, so smart. We have loved watching you grow and can't wait for everything in year 2 (it's the year she becomes a big sister!!)! It is absolutely insane how fast AND slow time moves once you have a child. My entire heart lives outside of my body with her. We love you, Claire bear! Now, let's go see the zoo! 🎉💕

It was another beautiful night in the fields with old and new friends! The weather was wonderful, the dahlias were beautiful, and everyone we met, new and old, was amazing! I am constantly feeling so fortunate that we get to host these events and get to interact with our community in such a meaningful way. Our friends at The Silver Shamrocks Cuisine knocked it out of the park (again!!) with delicious food, w**e, and signature drink (ask my mom lol), our friend, Kelley Marie, supplied the most beautiful family china, and everyone had an amazing time. We are so, so thankful for everyone coming over the last week. We can't wait to see you all again next year!

Also, for anyone panicking about dahlia cleanliness, everyone had bleach and was using it! We made sure of it!

I really felt like I was doing so well posting, and then, September happened. Between weather and life, and the exhaustion that comes with the end of the season (oh, and also being 7 months pregnant), I just didn't have time. Saturday was such an incredible day though! We had to do a few really hard pivots from our original plans, but so thankful for everyone that came and enjoyed amazing food, w**e, cocktails, and of course, flowers! We had the Rochester Farmers' Market on Saturday morning, a bridal shower at the house, and then our dinner in the dahlias. So thankful for all this year has taught us, and even more ready for next year!

Still picking up the last section of the field, but we've also been busy taking pictures of all our beautiful dahlias. The gals are certainly resilient, I will give them that. Our entire field was on its side and it's been a painstaking process getting it back upright. Even with the dahlias we had staked and secure, the storm was so intense, it tore them right out. Thankfully, a lot of our larger plants seem to be ok and thriving. Next up, labeling!

Ooof. We are alive, friends, but feels like just barely. Everything that could go wrong in the last three weeks has in fact, gone wrong.
💐Baby Winnie, our male golden, got stung by a bee (or bitten by something, we're unsure) and proceeded to be at the vet three separate times totaling close to $2k in medical bills. Thankfully, our sweet boy is finally on the mend - mostly because my SIL was able to drain a massive abscess on his eyelid.
💐 Our well pump went out and we had no water.
💐 A large storm blew through and leveled significant portions of our dahlia field. We're still fixing this.
💐 The same storm that leveled our dahlias, left us without power for over 2 days.
💐 Came home after LDW to a flooded basement
💐 We're all sick with a cold

Hoping it turns around today after we pick up the rest of the field. Hoping to finish strong and keep enjoying the flowers through the first frost! Also, running our giveaway through Friday and will announce the winner this weekend!

Flower farmin' ain't easy, friends. Many new lessons for 2027!
