It's that time of year again when I become...a tulip warden. Deer everywhere, so much pressure on the tulips and ranunculus, that they're supposed to "not like." If you're currently worried about your tulip height - water, water, water AND shade clothe! Tulips put on the most growth 2-3 weeks before they start showing color and blooming. I've been water twice a day (morning and night) and my tulips are all nice and long!

I was also able to get two trays planted out yesterday and finally feeling like we'll have a lot of our annuals in this weekend. Am I rolling the dice with the weather? YEP! Here's to hoping we stay warm! I'm about two weeks out from dahlias, which is also a risk, but we're just sending it this year!

After MONTHS of analysis paralysis, I finally bought a new vehicle! We can officially fit Claire and her accessories, 4 Golden Retrievers, and ALL THE FLOWERS. That was a true marathon, gang! The Chevy Suburban Premier is ready for the season! Claire approves!!

Hi, we're still here! We're just REAL busy! Annuals and perennials are going in, we're trying to w**d the peony field, focus on watering and covering and uncovering tulips, ranunculus, and anemones (all while not being blown away by this INTENSE wind), starting another round of seeds, OH, and we brought baby Blossom home. Her little personality is so fun, so sassy, and she is absolutely useless in the flowers. She was in the peonies yesterday and was an absolute chaos agent. Flowers SO SOON, friends!

We welcomed this sweet girl home last night! She has settled in SO well and everyone adores her! We were a little worried how the goldens might react to a new friend, but they all love her! She's such a little sweetheart and we're so glad she's home❤️

'Ain't no rest for the wicked' as said. Uncover, recover, make sure babies are tucked in, uncover, recover, repeat until what feels like the end of time. We've got some REAL early tulips that are so close to being ready!

Incredible to think that all these tiny corms and seeds turn into beautiful flowers. We're inching closer and closer to Spring and that means we're inching closer and closer to flowers. My favorite, of course, are the ranunculus. We will have SO many of those dreamy, light pink, chamallow!

I've been asked to help with flowers for a number of occasions: baby showers, weddings, and special events. When .mi asked me to help with her dear aunt's funeral flowers, it felt like the honor of a lifetime. Her family's only request was to make it bright and cheerful. Lauren and I worked diligently on the design yesterday and are both so, so happy with how it turned out. Not shown are two large bouquets. We're sending all our love to this family today as they send off a loved one. Thank you so much for entrusting me with your flowers. It was truly an honor. ❤️

Claire Emerson is S I X M O N T H S O L D! Wow! That went fast! I don't know where the last 6 months have gone, but it really feels like Claire's been in our family all along. She is full of SO much energy and spice! Baby girl has a lot of feedback for everyone and spends equal parts babbling and yelling at us. She is super smiley, loves to giggle, and can roll straight outta the room in under 2 minutes. She is SO close to crawling, has yet to find a food she won't eat, and loves all the animals that live in the house. She is such a sweetheart and we've loved every second of having her with us! Oh, lest I forget: she still hates sleeping.

Only 9 trays left! Baby ranunculus tucked into the low tunnel and living the dream! Hoping the weather doesn't turn tooooo hard this week, but if we need an extra layer of protection, thankfully, we have it. I put in a shift yesterday in freezing cold weather (seriously, had my long John's and electric socks on😂). This is two 16' foot beds. The start of the beds I didn't pre-sprout and after checking yesterday, we've got roots!

A post and congratulatory back pat for the SWEET PEAS! This is my first time growing sweet peas and I had nearly 100% germination. I followed blog post and only read it approximately 1,000 times. Look at these girlies go!

Me and the ranunculus are going throoouuggghhh it. I pre-started 12 trays and now, I'm filled with feelings of impending doom. I'll probably be planting these until next Spring. If all goes well, we should have a chaotic amount of ranunculus! 2 trays down, 10 million to go!

A moment for my garden heavyweights: the zinnias. Controversial, but you know what, I don't seed start these little hotties. Nope, I just throw and go. Last year, I took the time to start a few of them inside and it was a DISASTER. I planted them out early and then tossed my other zinnias in, watered, and walked away. The ones I tossed in grew TWICE as tall and twice as fast. My box of saved zinnia seeds is ready to party and I can't wait to see these bright, garden darlings shine this year. So much so that I've dedicated 3- 16 foot beds to them! It's the zinnias world and we are just living in it. Try and change my mind 🥰

Also, to round out our big weekend, the husband installed a direct water line into my grow room AND then installed these adorable, but very efficient sprayers. All the baby seedlings get a lovely mist and spritz and THAT is efficiency and THAT is my husband's specialty. Not having to run back and forth to the sink to water 1 zillion plants is a real game changer. Not shown: approximately 5,000 ranunculus (wtf was I thinking 😂)!

He also, without complaint, attended live with me on Friday (swipe!)! I had tickets to see and in 2020 just before the world shutdown. It was worth the 5 year wait!

Goodness! We had a BIG weekend! We had beautiful weather and that means Spring must be near! Claire and I wore matching bibs (a dream!), she used my garden wagon for free rides and of course, Matilda kisses, I was momentarily trapped in the peony field thanks to thick mud and poor shoe choice, and...some tulip babies started popping through! Woohoo! We have several sections of the tulips popping up and that means it's time to fence them in (iykyk 🦌🦌). I was also able to plant out another set of ranunculus and anemone.

Mommin', workin', and seedin' ain't easy! Spent the first part of the week up at 430AM for my 6AM go lives for my real job, rushing home to take care of Claire, and then continuing the seed starting extravaganza. Last night, I succession sowed more snapdragons, celosia, static, and stock. I also sowed mint, rosemary, and basil for filler. If you've been here long enough, you know my disdain for filler, BUT I did think it would be fun to add some in that was edible. Also, ya girl LOVES a homemade mojito, so maybe we'll even throw in a recipe card with this year's subscriptions! 🌱🌱🌱

In case you're looking for a reason to grow dahlias...just going to leave these right here. My sweet baby girl. Ugh. She was so tiny (and slept so well). Missing the newborn stage, but absolutely obsessed with the 5 month stage we're in now. Listening to Claire giggle is my favorite thing, along with seeing her little personality unfold, and being on the receiving end of her big girl hugs (less the hair pulling).

This little ham is F I V E M O N T H S O L D! Claire knows how to bring the party anywhere and everywhere! She's got a big, big voice and loves telling everyone how she's feeling. She has mastered rolling every which way possible and is FAST! Her favorite activity is eating and BOY does she let you know when you're not shoveling in food fast enough. She truly is a girl after my own heart. Having a daughter has been the best thing that I've ever done. Hearing my little mini's giggles is the best part of my day. We love watching you grow, sweet babe!
