*Bluefields, Jamaica* – The Bluefields People's Community Development Committee Benevolent Society (BPCDCBS) is excited to announce a significant partnership with the Rotary Club of Savvana la Mar, which serves as the "Host Sponsor," and the Rotary Club of Crescent from District 7690, North Carolina, designated as the "International Sponsor." Joining forces with Jah Works Inc. from North Carolina, USA. This collaborative initiative aims to implement twelve rainwater harvesting systems within the Bluefields community.

The project involves the installation of six systems each in the Belmont and McAlpine Districts, designed to address the community's pressing need for sustainable water sources. Each rainwater harvesting system is projected to cost J$202,500. These systems will help enhance the local population's access to clean and safe water, thereby directly aligning with BPCDCBS's vital "Clean Water for All Program."

The initiative illustrates a committed effort from all parties involved to foster community development and improve living conditions in Bluefields. By capturing and storing rainwater. These systems will not only provide a reliable water source but also promote environmental sustainability and resilience against climate variability.

Working together for a better future, BPCDCBS, supported by the Rotary clubs and Jah Works Inc., is dedicated to creating lasting positive impacts in the Bluefields community.

Our yearly fundraising event at was a success last Saturday.
Backpack Art Program is assembling the first round of art kits this week and shipping them to Tennessee - we will be working with Janna Browning / therapist and trauma informed expressive arts practitioner to distribute them to families who have lost everything. The next round will be traveling to NC.

We are in dialogue with RAD (River Arts District) - Asheville artists to support their rebuild efforts in the months to come.

We will continue to collect monetary donations as well as donated art supplies and art related gift cards to fund this emergent hurricane relief initiative and our SWVA Backpack Art Program as well.

‼️ Helpful info for TONIGHT'S 10/5 fundraiser for Asheville Artists & the Backpack Art Program! Starts at 5pm
⭐️ FYI: The Backpack Art Program identifies and partners with local schools in SW Virginia who would benefit from increased access to art supplies and mentoring in music and the arts. Multiple research studies have shown that access to art supplies and artistic programs in early childhood has far reaching benefits mentally, emotionally and academically.
For this particular fundraiser, the Backpack Art Program is focusing its efforts on collecting backpacks full of art supplies for children in Asheville who most certainly would benefit from creative artistic outlets while processing the effects of hurricane Helene. **Your donations of new or gently used and neatly packaged art supplies can make a HUGE difference for the kids of Asheville!

This Saturday October 5th - The Sky High Reggae Takeover - an annual fundraiser with Lazy Man Dub Band Quartet, Elizabeth Stallings//DJ Ruby Star and an epic dance party with Barthio! 5-11pm This is a donation appreciated event.
Please join us for a special cause! This year Sky High Reggae’s Backpack Art Program is partnering with Ruby Star Arts and Dogtown Roadhouse and we will be collecting monetary donations, gently used/nicely repackaged art supplies and art related gift cards (Michael’s or Dick Blick).
We will be purchasing art supplies with the donations and redistributing them to Asheville, NC families that have lost their homes and professional artists that have lost their studios during Hurricane Helene.
