From an empty stage to a night we’ll never forget. This is the part of live music most people never get to see… the lights come on, the stage comes alive, and suddenly Trace Adkins is walking out to a packed house.

There’s nothing like it.

Two ol’ country boys… just a few generations apart.
One helped define an era of country music.
The other sounds like he might’ve been born in the wrong one.

This is the kind of backstage moment we live for.

Just two ol country boys.

Trace Adkins + “At This Moment” = a combination I didn’t know I needed.

Who around here does a great toy drive every year? 🎁🎄

We’re looking for a local business, charity, or organization to partner with for a BIG toy drive this Christmas. We’ve got something pretty special in the works and want to make sure we find the right organization to help us get toys into the hands of as many local kids as possible.

Tag them below or send us their info!

I like Morgan Wade’s music.

And I realize that’s not exactly a groundbreaking statement. Lots of people like Morgan Wade. She has sold records and concert tickets and presumably owns several guitars, so there is already considerable evidence that I am not alone here.

But her songs resonate with me.

They’re real. And I mean actually real, not the kind of “real” where somebody puts on an old pearl-snap shirt, finds a dirt road and has a photographer follow them around for an afternoon.

There’s some mileage in those songs.

Hope. Regret. Bad decisions. Good intentions. Loving people. Losing people. Trying to become a better version of yourself while occasionally discovering the old version still has your phone number.

And then there’s that voice.

Tangy. Gritty. A little rough around the edges. Like somebody poured Virginia through a guitar amplifier and didn't bother filtering it first.

I like that.

I like music where you can hear a human being in it. I don’t need every corner sanded down. Life has corners. People have corners. It stands to reason that decent music ought to have a few too.

Anyway, Morgan Wade is coming to Weldon Mills Theatre in Roanoke Rapids next month, which is a mighty good place to see somebody like her.

It’s a great little venue. Free parking. Cheap drinks. You walk in, hear some good music, have yourself a beverage and walk back to your vehicle afterward without discovering you somehow financed a small municipal infrastructure project.

That’s increasingly rare.

So I reckon we’ll go listen to Morgan Wade sing about hope, heartache and the general difficulty of being a person.

And thanks to free parking and cheap drinks, we may leave with some hope of our own.
