Advisory Issued for the Headwaters of the Patapsco River to the Mouth of Bodkin Creek Due to a Massive Sewage Overflow

Pasadena, Maryland (May 30, 2025) – The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has issued an advisory for the headwaters of the Patapsco River to the mouth of Bodkin Creek due to a large sewage overflow of over 21 million gallons of partially treated sewage from the Patapsco Wastewater Treatment Plant in Baltimore City.

The Department of Health has issued an advisory against direct water contact for the next seven days due to the risk of sewage affecting Anne Arundel County Recreational Waters. People coming in contact with the affected water are advised to immediately wash well with soap and warm water.

The overflow was reported to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025. For more information about this advisory, call the Department of Health’s Recreational Water Quality Monitoring Program at 410-222-7999 or visit aahealth.org/rec-water.

As a reminder, after a rainfall, all Anne Arundel County beaches are under a no swimming and no direct water contact advisory for at least 48 hours due to predicted high bacterial levels.

Anyone fishing in the Patapsco River and neighboring waterways should be cautious and consider wearing gloves, and if there is any water contact, wash your hands with soap and warm water as soon as possible.

Ok, folks it's that time of year again. We would certainly appreciate anyone who can volunteer a couple of hours to help us out with our
biggest fundraiser. Winning a BUSHEL OF CRABS. We will be selling tickets at
Gerschbecks Grocery Store and Greenvalley Grocery Store from 10:00am to
2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. July 20- 21 and August 24-25. Thanks in advance as our community operates on volunteers and fundraising.

Just a heads up. Soem glass was picked up around the swings. A parent picked up everything they could, but a reminder shoes should be on to prevent issues. I know it sucks. We are doing the best we can to remove trespassers and those breaking the rules and regulations.
