We are ready to welcome all of our amazing students from across our community to another exciting summer at M&M Family Orchard Educational Ranch!

Our FREE Summer Camp is officially FULL! 🎉 This year we will welcome 50 students during our first week and another 50 students during our third week of June. We are incredibly grateful to our amazing partners, sponsors, volunteers, and community collaborations that make this opportunity possible year after year.

Because of your support, 100 children will have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences, explore the outdoors, make new friends, enjoy healthy meals and snacks, and discover the importance of caring for our water, plants, animals, and community.

We are so excited to begin on Monday with our SECOND group of campers! 💛

The following information was sent to all enrolled families for Week 1. If you did not receive the email, please review it below. We can't wait to see everyone Monday morning!

Hello M&M Family Orchard Summer Camp Families!

We are SO excited to welcome your children to our FREE Summer Camp at M&M Family Orchard Educational Ranch! For the 5th year in a row, thanks to amazing supporters, volunteers, and community partners, we are able to continue providing fun, educational, and hands-on experiences for our community children.

📍 Camp Hours: Monday–Thursday | 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM

🚗 IMPORTANT PARKING & SAFETY REMINDERS:
• Please park ONLY in our designated parking lot area.
• NO CARS should be parked on the street to help keep all children safe.
• Parents/guardians MUST sign children in and out every day.
• Camp instructions and guidelines were also included in the registration forms.

👟 Please Remember to Bring:
• Closed-toe shoes
• A water bottle
• Comfortable outdoor clothing

🌻 During camp, children will enjoy:
• Hands-on groundwater and water conservation activities using University of Arizona curriculum
• Learning about taking care of water, plants, and animals
• Planting, watering, and outdoor exploration
• Reading and storytelling workshops with bilingual children's author Maritza Higuera
• Workshops featuring lavender, nopales, crafts, and nature-based learning
• Opportunities to make friends while learning through hands-on activities

🍎 Breakfast and snacks will be provided daily thanks to the amazing SCV35 summer food delivery program.

Our first session of Summer Camp is officially over, and we received the sweetest surprise! 💚🎂

A huge thank you to Algo Bello Cakes and Lupita for this beautiful and delicious treat. We know it took time, love, and thoughtfulness, and we are truly grateful.

We never expect anything in return for what we do, but gestures like this remind us how blessed we are to be surrounded by such an amazing community.

We love supporting and highlighting our local businesses and the wonderful people behind them. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and appreciation.

Day 4 and graduation for our first session of 50 enrolled students! 🌻🎓

What an amazing day at the ranch! Where do we even start? 💚

Today our students enjoyed story time with Maritza Higuera’s book If I Eat My Fruits and Vegetables, and every student took home a signed book directly from the author! 📚✨

We were honored to welcome Santa Cruz County Justice of the Peace Adriana Olaiz, who met with our students and led a special pledge about being good students, good citizens, and continuing to support our community.

Engineer Cota from Rio Rico Fire introduced himself, shared about his work, gave our students a tour of the fire truck, and treated everyone to a fun cool-down on this hot day! 🚒💦

We also celebrated each student with certificates and enjoyed every single moment together.

Thank you to the Rio Rico Historical Museum for joining us again, to Aureliano for your kindness and for teaching our students about plants, and to Nathalie and Javier from food service SFE for bringing breakfast every morning. Our students got to take home melons 🍈, nopales, seeds and plants to continue their learning at home!

Thank you to all our volunteers, partners, and amazing community leaders for giving our students the tools, love, and kindness they deserve.

🌻💚 Day 3 at M&M Family Orchard Educational Ranch was AMAZING! 💚🌻

We started our morning with a delicious breakfast thanks to our incredible partners! A special thank you to Nathalie, Javier, and the amazing SFE Program for making sure our students receive a nutritious breakfast every morning at 8:00 AM. Your support helps our campers start each day ready to learn and explore!

Today, our students learned how to make natural body scrubs using lavender 🪻 grown right here at the ranch. It was a fun hands-on activity that taught them about natural ingredients, wellness, and the many uses of plants.

Another wonderful highlight was a visit from our amazing friend Aureliano. Every year, Aureliano generously supports our students, and today he donated 12 plants to raffle between our students!! Aureliano grows his plants from seed and shares his love of gardening with our community. Thank you for your kindness and continued support of our students! 🌱

We also continued learning about our ranch animals, responsible animal care, and the importance of groundwater conservation—helping students understand how to protect one of our most valuable natural resources.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our students learning, making new friends, building confidence, and having fun outdoors. 🌻🐐💧

Today our summer camp students had a wonderful day full of learning, exploration, and hands-on experiences!

Did you know? 🌵 Nopales are packed with fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and have been part of the culture and nutrition of the Southwest for generations. They can help support healthy digestion and are a nutritious addition to many meals!

Today our students learned all about nopales, tasted them prepared in two different ways, and each child took home a penca de nopal to continue learning with their families.

We also planted trees and talked about the importance of caring for our environment and leaving a greener future for the next generation. 🌳💚

A special thank you to the Rio Rico Historical Society and Museum for visiting us today and extending a wonderful invitation to all of our summer camp students. Learning about our local history helps our children connect with the community they call home.
