Set against the wilderness of Chromo, Colorado, a small town outside of Durango, the Olsens took their leap into each other’s arms.
We had come from all over the U.S. and Europe to prepare for and witness their celebration, but couldn’t imagine the spectacular display of God’s grace and power that awaited us.
I had woken up early as the sun rose to hike out to the ceremony site on the ranch. I had brought nothing but a suitcase of floral supplies and quickly got to work, feeling a bit like a fairy princess in the midst of the quiet mountain valley. The morning felt meditative and peaceful, and Ryan and Stephanie had chosen to have their first look over French pressed coffee. I’ve been blessed to know Stephanie as a friend for years- she’s someone who could make me laugh instantly and I’ve always admired her faith and ingenuity. Whether it be traipsing off to Paris, or nights in College Plaza, Stephanie knew how to make an adventure out of anything.
The clouds looked terribly dark though, and loomed black overhead into the ceremony time. Rolling rain began to fall around us, even after guests had taken their seats.
Just as Stephanie began her entrance down the aisle, the clouds lightened, the wind calmed, and a perfect rainbow filled the space between the mountains. The sun dramatically broke through and warmed the valley the second that Ryan took Stephanie’s hands. There was so much evidence of God’s presence that wild day. His hand was over the journey of the Olsens from the beginning, and into the many adventures that lie ahead for them.
