As a solo artist and one third of Tongue & Groove, Kevin’s signature sound is a collective; lively Tribal and Afro rhythms with thick wall pushing bass lines and various psychedelic nuances built on a foundation of the soulful sound. Kevin’s early mentors include local underground DJ’s and producers Demetre Baca, Grasshopper, Kepi, and more recently Gabriel Dellous.

As Founder of Tongue & Groove, an executive Resident for Rose City Underground, a member of Chronic Earwax, and curator of The Narwal Music Festival, Kevin embodies the culture of Portland’s Underground House community and superbly represents these collectives at local and
regional events.

His ability to touch you emotionally with his music is what makes him a sought-after performer and frequently booked artist in the Pacific Northwest. With a diverse array of talents, and a love for all underground styles of genres; Kevin Davis Jr is poised for the future and whichever direction it
may go.

Kevin is performing Saturday night on our Sunshine Stage and also lovingly preparing a temple art space (Altar Reality) alongside Arlene Knowlton, Audrey Batman, and Melissa Lindsey at our event for honoring our beloved friend Ben (BMR) who's life, legacy, and longtime friendship spreading across the vast PNW OG communities is a major inspiration for our gathering this upcoming week at Liquid Sunshine.

Born in the 70’s to a family of vinyl collectors; Bahb caught the music bug early. He started buying punk rock and underground hip-hop as a kid and as he grew up, with the influence of rave culture, he started putting sets together and began playing out in his hometown of Madison, Wi. A few years later he would move to Portland, OR and develop his sound. He has since built a reputation for himself as a solid performer who can read and rock a crowd with ease. Locally infamous, with his own distinct sound, Bahb humbly holds it down. A craft three decades in the making, he’s shared the decks with industry greats like Ian Pooley, Todd Edwards, Monkey Safari, Doc Martin, Brett Johnson, Diz, Christian Martin and a whole slew of others; known for keeping a low profile some claim Bahb is one of Portland's best kept underground secrets. Liquid Sunshine is honored to present Stacey Pullen (Blackflag Recordings) at our event on August 9th on the Columbia River near Portland, Oregon!

Stacey Pullen, label boss at Blackflag Recordings, is a pioneering force in the Second Wave of Detroit techno, mentored by the city's iconic trio—Derrick May, Juan Atkins, and Kevin Saunderson. As a world-renowned DJ and producer he continues to shape the electronic music landscape with his characteristic atmospheric sound, defying predictability and embodying his lifelong commitment to innovation.

Stacey's musical journey began at age 9 with the flute in school bands, setting the stage for a lifelong connection to music. Inspired by the mid-1980s Detroit Techno movement and influenced by luminaries like Jeff Mills and Chicago DJs, he, along with friends, experimented with turntables, laying the foundation for his illustrious DJ career.

From his debut gig in 1992, Stacey recognized the challenges and rewards of DJing-- marking the start of his impactful trajectory. The release of his first track was under the moniker “Bango” on Derrick May’s Fragile Records. In 1993 Stacey moved to Amsterdam for more than a year and solidified his status as an innovative and influential figure in the techno landscape. In 1998, he continued his growth trajectory and started Blackflag Recordings featuring the future classic “Sweat”.

As a luminary in the music industry, Stacey Pullen continues to grow Blackflag Recordings: a label of abstract aesthetics– an outlet of free speech, thought and sound. Stacey’s goal is to hold no boundaries in his approach to music and its artform. With the goal of growth always at the forefront, expect Stacey to push the limits of possibilities in every project he touches.
