Happy Mother's Day! πβ¨ Thank you to everyone who invited me to make their Mother's Day just a little bit more lovely with flowers from the garden. I am so grateful for your support! π₯Ή
I'm taking a breather for a few days, swapping out tired spring plants for fresh summer seedlings. Fall planted foxgloves, snapdragons, stock, sweet peas and orlaya are coming out. Marigolds, zinnias, celosia, hibiscus, cosmos, basil, ornamental grasses, hyacinth bean, mums and the last of the dahlias are going in! There's a cheery eucalyptus patch, a small bed of lisianthus, yarrow, feverfew, larkspur, spring planted snapdragons, poppies still popping, ageratum, strawflower, sunflowers, gomphrena, statice, bee balm, nigella, basil, campanula, echinacea all doing their thing already, vibing in this small space. It's actually insane typing that out like...where did that all fit? ππ« π«£
We prepped a new bed in a reallyyyyyyy compacted area by the road and are going to see how it does this season. Our entire growing area is no till! So we weeded a bit, put down a bit of compost, broadforked, laid down cardboard, topped with gobs of compost, toddler stomped all over the new bed lolol, and we will plant directly in that compost! Over time the cardboard will break down and the roots will go through. We'll add compost each year and eventually have really nice soil over there (...probs)! π₯³
We planned for maybe 15 new peony roots to be squeezed in come the fall. Moving around daffodils bulbs and weeding like crazy.
..so much going on (always π
). ππΌ!!! I have loved spring but I have to admit I'm β¨very excitedβ¨ for summer flowers. ππ
