Sarah's Garden Cut flowers lovingly grown in a teeny urban front yard garden in Richmond, VA

I love the sunset vibes of this week's flowers. πŸŒ„ Cheery buttercream marigolds, purple ageratum, dusty yarrow, and strawflowers in the prettiest shades of peach. The sea oats add such airiness and the mint a yummy smell, too. 🫢🏼

I have a few of these beauties available for pickup if you're keen! They are super long lasting in the vase and would make a lovely, thoughtful gift. πŸ™‚β™₯️

...the sun! πŸ€©β˜€οΈ It has been such a gray, rainy, gloomy week, it's so nice to see the sun peeking out today!

And fittingly, the first of the sunflowers bloomed. I really love sunflowers and am so excited for the varieties I'll be going this summer. I (try and πŸ€ͺ) sow them every two weeks to have sunnies all summer long. 🌻

Pest pressure is kicking in which tells me it's time to say goodbye to the spring flowers! πŸͺ²πŸ¦ŸπŸœ The last of the feverfew, larkspur, snaps, nigella, bee balm, strawflower, scabiosa, and bupleurum will be cut over the next week or two.

So many marigolds, sunflowers, zinnias, celosia, cosmos and other warm season flowers are growing and growing. I can't wait to see their blooms!

Little springtime giveaway! πŸ₯²βœ¨

I've got two extra sweet bouquets! Message me or comment and tell me to whom you'd gift them and I'll pick two people to come snag them from our porch, tomorrow (Wednesday!). I love hearing where our flowers end up and especially love when they are gifted to people you love. β™₯️πŸ₯Ή

Happy Mother's Day! 🌈✨ Thank you to everyone who invited me to make their Mother's Day just a little bit more lovely with flowers from the garden. I am so grateful for your support! πŸ₯Ή

I'm taking a breather for a few days, swapping out tired spring plants for fresh summer seedlings. Fall planted foxgloves, snapdragons, stock, sweet peas and orlaya are coming out. Marigolds, zinnias, celosia, hibiscus, cosmos, basil, ornamental grasses, hyacinth bean, mums and the last of the dahlias are going in! There's a cheery eucalyptus patch, a small bed of lisianthus, yarrow, feverfew, larkspur, spring planted snapdragons, poppies still popping, ageratum, strawflower, sunflowers, gomphrena, statice, bee balm, nigella, basil, campanula, echinacea all doing their thing already, vibing in this small space. It's actually insane typing that out like...where did that all fit? πŸ˜‚πŸ« πŸ«£

We prepped a new bed in a reallyyyyyyy compacted area by the road and are going to see how it does this season. Our entire growing area is no till! So we weeded a bit, put down a bit of compost, broadforked, laid down cardboard, topped with gobs of compost, toddler stomped all over the new bed lolol, and we will plant directly in that compost! Over time the cardboard will break down and the roots will go through. We'll add compost each year and eventually have really nice soil over there (...probs)! πŸ₯³

We planned for maybe 15 new peony roots to be squeezed in come the fall. Moving around daffodils bulbs and weeding like crazy.
..so much going on (always πŸ˜…). πŸ™ŒπŸΌ!!! I have loved spring but I have to admit I'm ✨very excited✨ for summer flowers. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ž
