Tootsie Pop says “thank God for sunshine” ☀️

She always says “thank God for rain” as we know rain is precious and needed in order to grow our crops that feed our community and our animals. 🌧️

This upcoming heat is gonna make plants GROW🔥

I am grateful we spent the time, energy and money on figuring out and installing drip irrigation so the flowers and food can get watered when they need moisture. 💧

Tips for your plants in this upcoming heat:
•Water in the coolest parts of the day.
•Water the rootball not the foliage. Imagine water on your skin it’s gonna bake you in 95F+ heat.
•check your container plants more often as they are proned to dry out much faster.
•make sure you drink some water yourself 🧊

- arrive at Fields of Plenty 16699 25th St NW, Rice, MN
-Park in front of the farmstand (first building on the left)
- read the whiteboard
- pick out your wrapped bouquet from the top LEFT of the floral fridge for drop ins—- top RIGHT for pre-orders
- Pay cash to the white cash box
- actually read the “tulip care” directions
- come back again this summer for summer bouquets 🌻

Wakeee wakeeee Tulips 🌷

It’s time to wake up the tulips. I do this by uncovering the straw mulch to allow for the soil to get heated up. This straw will line the walking rows to suppress w**ds and feed the soil as it breaks down into organic matter.

Soil needs to be fed too 🌱🍽️

And so it begins…

SEED STARTING

Indoor seed starting is beginning this week. I am literally overwhelmed with so much joy and excitement this time brings. New life will begin, new experiences will be had, new friends will be made! Gosh it gets me all sorts of eager for sweet flower time!

My spreadsheets and notebooks full of research, planning and commitments to this years species and varieties are finally coming to fruition. AHHH IT FEELS SO GOOD!

It’s -20 outside with the windchill and I get to start my gorgeous flowers from seed inside my 65 F cozy home. 🥰 How cool is that!? 🤩

I’ll be posting updates as they come… guys- I have many VERY BIG announcements to share about the future of Fields of Plenty Farm and our dreams. 😉☺️ our community, our family, and our farm will be stronger with these incredible dreams we are working for. That’s the goal right, be better than we were yesterday!? 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽
