Thank you for this amazing opportunity to participate in the Dresden ,Germany Fellowship/ Residency. This represents a transformative step on my continuous journey of exploration as a Fashion Designer, and my pursuit of artistic excellence to fuel me inspirationally. Dresden, with its rich Baroque cultural heritage , and vibrant contemporary art scene, will offer a unique environment to explore and refine my design sensibility and propel me towards a new level of creative expression.

Well, guys, it’s a wrap on the Streetwear Challenge. My look was a celebration of Modern Black Dandyism, inspired by this year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” For me, fashion is a powerful tool for Black artists—it’s how we shift perceptions and feel empowered. Though I was eliminated on this challenge, my conviction in my design is 100% unwavering.
I’m so grateful for this entire experience. Thank you to the whole team for such a phenomenal send-off. This has been an unforgettable and amazing journey—a true privilege and an honor and I am still in tears..😭
Thank you to the judges , , and for your tough love, and for your mentorship….Child !!!! a time was had….
To my fellow designers, thank you for all your love and support; it meant the world to me. Continue to be great and reach for the stars. What an UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT !
I am still floating in the clouds and my heart is so full! A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone …my incredible family and friends who came out to celebrate with me at my Season 21 Premiere Viewing Party.…a time was had y’all.
Thank you for all the love…the beautiful flowers… your kind words.. and your support over the years it really means the world to me , and being able to share this incredible experience with all of you is a dream come true.

Joan Madison – Season 21 Spotlight

As a young child and early fashion maven, she was known to make new, custom-fitted clothing for Barbie dolls and sell them in the school cafeteria out of her lunchbox. By the age of 13, she had made a wedding gown for her very first bridal customer. Upon graduating from high school, she went on to study at the acclaimed Fashion Institute of Technology. After honing her professional skills in the New York Fashion District and at The Limited in Columbus, Ohio, she went on to open her own full service bridal salon, known as Joan’s Bridal Couture.
Joan Madison brings fully sparkling, Broadway-size optimism, and unapologetic flair to every design. Known for her glittering aesthetic and larger-than-life energy, Joan turns every runway into a celebration—and every garment into a statement of joy.

This is one of my favorite designs I’ve ever created ,in which I used raffia as my unconventional material for this enormous skirt…and I stumbled upon this amazing article from explaining the origins of Raffia…
RAFFIA N THANGS ; Raffia in fashion refers to the use of raffia palm fibers-a natural material derived from the leaves of the Raphia tree (native to parts of Africa & Madagascar), Central & West Africa (Cameroon, Congo, Nigeria). Also found in parts of Southeast Asia (Philippines and Indonesia) & Central/South America where similar palm species exist. Used in the design & production of garments, accessories, & footwear. It’s especially popular in sustainable, artisanal, & heritage-inspired fashion....
