Today isn't just my birthday.

Today is proof that God still writes beautiful stories.

Happy 39th Birthday to me. 🎉👑

If you've followed my journey, you know Yae's Eats and Catering LLC didn't come from privilege, investors, or someone opening doors for me.

It came from pain. It came from loss. It came from starting over more times than I can count.

I've buried dreams. I've buried loved ones. I've cried tears nobody saw. I've smiled while my heart was breaking. I've worked events exhausted, grieving, and uncertain about what tomorrow would bring.

But I kept going.
I kept cooking.
I kept building.
I kept believing.

Because every setback became seasoning for the woman I'm becoming.
Twenty years ago, I was just a woman who loved feeding people.

Today, I'm the owner of an award-winning catering company serving clients across multiple states, creating unforgettable experiences, and building a legacy that my family can be proud of.

But my greatest accomplishment isn't the awards.
It's surviving.
It's getting up every time life tried to knock me down.
It's refusing to let heartbreak have the final word.
It's choosing faith over fear.
It's becoming the woman I once prayed to be.

At 39, I'm not chasing perfection.
I'm chasing purpose.

I'm stronger. I'm wiser. I'm more grateful. I'm more intentional. And for the first time in a long time, I'm fully embracing the woman in the mirror.

A few weeks ago, I sent a quote for a family reunion. They thanked me for my time, but ultimately decided to go in a different direction because they felt my pricing was higher than they expected.

A week or so later, another family reunion inquiry landed in my inbox. I won't lie, I considered lowering my price just to secure the booking. As business owners, we all have those moments. Bills don't stop, and this isn't a hobby for me—it's my career.

But instead, I sent my quote based on my experience, the quality of my food, and the level of service I provide.

Their response?

They paid the invoice in full the very same day and said they had been hoping to book with me.

No haggling.
No negotiating.
No asking for discounts.

Just trust in the value I bring.

The lesson? Don't let people who don't see your value convince you to lower it. The right clients won't make you prove your worth over and over again. They'll recognize it, respect it, and book accordingly.

So a couple weeks ago we did a wedding and whew… the things vendors deal with behind the scenes would SHOCK some of y’all.

I’m not gonna name the couple because that’s not my style, but I do need to address something that honestly left me completely baffled.

My staff was accused of trying to “steal” beer/liquor simply because they were MOVING it while cleaning our area.

That’s it. That was the accusation.

The alcohol wasn’t hidden.
It wasn’t loaded in a car.
It wasn’t being taken off property.

They were literally relocating it to a safer spot because:

1. It was left in the way while we were breaking down.
2. We didn’t want the family/couple forgetting it since it wasn’t near the bartender setup anymore.

Mind you… earlier that same day, the coordinator had already asked ME to step in and bartend if needed because the bartenders were over 3 HOURS late to the venue.

So after bending over backwards to help save the timeline and keep things running smoothly, being accused of stealing was honestly wild to me.

In all my years catering events, I’ve NEVER had anyone accuse me or my staff of stealing anything. Ever.

Vendors are human beings. Most of us are out here working 12-16 hour days trying to make your event successful while solving problems y’all never even see happening in the background.

Please stop jumping to conclusions and making false accusations without asking questions first.

Communication goes a long way.
Respect goes even further.
