The pitmaster behind GIT-R-SMOKED was born and raised right here in Reno, Nevada, and last year he returned to Northern Nevada and took home the #1 spot at one of the biggest rib competitions in the country. 🔥
Now he and the GIT-R-SMOKED team are coming back for the 2026 Rib Cook-Off to defend their title!

Behind every rack of GIT-R-SMOKED ribs is years of fire, smoke, competition and a whole lot of BBQ obsession.
Meet Kevin McFarland — the Reno-raised pitmaster behind GIT-R-SMOKED. 👨🍳🔥
What started as a passion for BBQ has grown into years of competition, creativity, hard work, and championship-level flavor. Kevin has continued to evolve GIT-R-SMOKED with new ideas, bold designs, and one goal: make unforgettable BBQ.
Behind every rack of ribs are countless hours of prep, perfected recipes, real hardwood smoke, and a whole lot of heart. Along the way, Kevin credits his family—especially his mom, dad, and wife—and the many friends and supporters who have believed in his wild ideas and helped GIT-R-SMOKED grow.
After taking 1st Place at the 2025 Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off, Kevin and the GIT-R-SMOKED crew are coming back in 2026 ready to defend the title.
