Mena Spodobalski’s story is one of reinvention, resilience, and turning purpose into action.
After discovering strength training in her 30s and becoming a competitive figure athlete in her 40s, Mena took a leap of faith and became a gym owner at 43. She purchased Evoke Fitness a Reno private training facility in 2012 a community built around the belief that strength is about far more than how you look.
But her greatest mission was still ahead.
After witnessing the physical and emotional toll cancer takes on people long after treatment ends, Mena founded Evoke Warriors, a nonprofit providing cancer survivors with six months of free fitness, nutrition, support, and, perhaps most importantly, community.
Six years later, Evoke Warriors has impacted more than 120 cancer survivors facing cancers ranging from breast and prostate cancer to leukemia, brain, lung, liver, melanoma, and other diagnoses.
Today, Mena is 18 years into the fitness industry making an impact in the Reno community. Through Evoke Fitness and Evoke Warriors, she has created something much bigger than a gym: a place where people discover what their bodies are still capable of, and where cancer survivors learn they never have to walk the road forward alone.
Because for Mena, strength has never just been about muscle. It’s about helping people take their lives back.
