What are you planting in your garden this spring?

Are you familiar with the behavior of turkey hens fanning their tails and displaying themselves in a manner akin to a tom turkey? Our two hens, Flower and Tree, named by my son, are competing for Patrick's attention.

The ladies are working hard creating a rainbow of farm fresh eggs. The weather is about to break and I anticipate the girls laying at maximum production. I will be nominating chicken of the week soon. The greenhouse room is starting to fill up fast. This week will be extremely busy with a plethora of heirloom tomatoes being started and a variety of new cut flowers.

Spring has sprung and Patrick our Royal palm turkey is out of the coop!!! He is a little dirty from being inside with the laying hens all winter but nothing a bath won’t fix.

The farm has undergone a lengthy and well-deserved winter hiatus. The appearance of our first robin, coupled with the heightened activity of skunks and opossums, unmistakably signals the onset of spring. Our grow mats are operational, and the grow lights are shining brightly, inducing vigorous seed growth. This season, our primary focus will be on producing high-quality produce and flowers, with a multitude of gardening endeavors underway. What are your gardening objectives for this year? Have you begun seed germination? What are you most enthusiastic about regarding this growing season?

I'm met with a bittersweet feeling this morning as I accept the conclusion of our flower farm's season. The frost last night has ended the season, and I've gathered my final bouquet for the dinner table. Although I anticipated this outcome, it's still somewhat disheartening. Opting not to use frost cloths, I've let the season unfold naturally, shifting my focus to preparing the beds for next year. Given the severity of the frost, I doubt any crops have survived. However, we continue to offer pork and eggs, and we're excited to host a spooky haunted barn event for local entertainment. If you're interested in attending, please message me.

Even though we have already had a frost the flowers are still hanging in there. If you want a late season bouquet before they are all gone let me know before it’s too late.

I really am so happy how the lisianthus have turned out this year. My little girl enjoying the last blooms before the frost puts an end to the growing season.
