Everybody got to take something home. I hope the plant wasn’t the only thing. 🌱

This is what the room looked like at the end of our Rooted in Growth workplace experience.

We had spent the hour with our hands in soil, but the real work was happening elsewhere: noticing, reflecting, laughing together and making room for ourselves in the middle of a workday.

I love seeing everyone holding what they planted because it makes visible something that isn’t quite as easy to photograph. For a little while, these employees had an opportunity to experience themselves and one another differently.

That matters at work.

And now they have something living to take home and tend.

There was dirt on the conference room tables. On purpose!!!

We brought Meet Me in the Dirt® into the Kinecta workplace and invited employees to pay attention to something that can easily get lost in the pace of a workday: themselves.

What am I carrying today? What am I noticing? What might need a little tending?

Not everything we notice needs to be fixed. Sometimes being able to recognize where we are, without judging it or rushing through it, is a practice in itself.

You can be capable and stretched.
You can enjoy your work and still need a little shade.

That’s where the dirt comes in.

At Meet Me in the Dirt, we aren’t really teaching people to garden. We use the garden, the soil and what happens with our hands in it to create another way of understanding what’s happening within us.

Sometimes the soil is simply where the conversation begins.

Such a humbling time to be invited to host Employee Wellness Day at Meet Me in the Dirt style!🌿. The staff were so very excited to see their plant babies and all the preparations that go into making our experiences unforgettable!!!

Create what you want instead of being stuck in what you didn’t have.

As a counselor aka gardener of souls, I get the privilege of hearing many life stories. As we age, we can become so jaded. We do spend a lot of time and energy waiting for the other shoe to drop, whatever or whoever is trying to throw us off our game, or simply keep us from growing or doing or being.

That’s a terrible way to feel and keeps one in a constant state of anxiety. I mean, paying attention to your safety is key but living in defense mode isn’t a healthy or enjoyable way to go through life!

Insert the invincible nature of rain boots! Putting these babies on gives me a sense of protection, (as feeble as that may be at times) as I brave the storms of life. Their presence helps me walk through some areas that might be dangerous or uncomfortable without their covering.

That’s what having an attuned counseling experience at Meet Me in the Dirt is like.
