A small note from Westwood Flower Farm
This season, I’m choosing a slightly quieter way of tending this little farm and my life around it.
Have you noticed how much gets lost in the scroll, no matter how often someone posts? I’ve learned that spending time trying to stay visible online does not feel aligned for me, so I’m going to embrace what feels right and trust word of mouth. It feels freeing.
This spring’s daffodils were truly beautiful, and with the warmth they have now finished for the year. I loved sharing them, especially delivering flowers to beloved residents at nursing homes in our area. Those moments brought real joy.
This spring I grew lots of wave petunias for family and friends for Mother's Day, and I’m learning that the joy of growing flowers, for me, is in sharing them with the people I care about.
Here on the farm, the dahlia season is underway behind the scenes, with tubers pre‑sprouting and beds being tended. Blooms typically arrive later in July and continue until the first frost. I’ll be sharing with a few florists who appreciate locally grown flowers, a local family-owned nursery I have shopped at for years, and with those who find their way here through connections.
With a full time career, this farm, and a family I care deeply for, I’m choosing a season that doesn’t rush past, one that leaves room to be present for the people and the flowers growing right in front of me.
