Sometimes I get to go to a place I have never been to before and fall in love with it. These two brought me to Rangeley, Maine for their intimate elopement on a cold and quiet fall day. We explored a mountain by car, we had a moose witness their ceremony, and there was so much joy that no one could be mad when it started to rain.

Staying in the moment and with your loved ones makes any wedding more enjoyable for everyone than focusing on the “next photo op”. Heather & Mike kept their entire wedding day and reception true to themselves in every way. As a result they built the most beautiful memories and perfect photos that truly reflect their story ❤️

I get this question with virtually every couple I talk to. How much time do we need to book you for on our wedding day? There’s no universal answer to this question, it really depends on what you want and what your day looks like. Here’s my series on wedding day timelines where I am going to post the real story on each wedding and what they looked like. I love transparency and hopefully this will help give clarity!

A&V - 4 hours, 1 photographer, no wedding party, 40 guests, 2 locations

Bridal Prep, Details, & First Looks 2-3:15
Ceremony 3:30-4:00
Family Portraits & Formal Portraits 4:00-4:45pm
Travel to Reception 4:45-5pm
Reception (Entrance, Formal Dances, Toasts, Cake Cutting) 5:00-6:00pm

And truly I wouldn’t have added even an hour more. 4 hours was plenty of time for this beautiful intimate summer wedding!

Rain may make things different than what you expect, but they never ruin a wedding day. Fun fact: cloudy day photos are often more colorful and vibrant! They also look amazing on skin tones.

Here’s a few tips on how to best prepare for rain:
-Buy a bulk pack of clear umbrellas. If your venue doesn’t have a rain backup this is a must! Especially if you’re getting married outside no matter what.
-Be okay with the rain going in, you can’t assume you will have perfect sunshine. Being okay with whatever Mother Nature throws at you is part of planning a wedding. You’ll be happier on the day and breathe a little easier! Embrace it.
-A tent with clear sidewalls is your best friend. You will get natural light and stay dry!

The San Juan’s are definitely my favorite place in all of Colorado, and probably in the top five favorite places in the world. Eloping here is a dream. This was my first Colorado elopement I ever shot from 2022, but I still look back on it with so much happiness. It was early May, the snow was melting out and impossible to move through, but this brave NH couple chose to enter a completely unknown world. They eloped with only their parents in attendance. Their San Juan Colorado elopement along the million dollar highway was intimate and absolutely perfect.

Hi! I’m Natalie, and if you are new here I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you what I am all about.

I am part time New England and part time Colorado, but 100% authentically Natalie! I love the mountains, the ocean, the forest, and all things outside. When I say I am outdoorsy, I mean I would rather be outside hiking through a snowstorm than inside with hot chocolate. Both sound lovely, I just have a connection to nature at my core.

I’ve professionally shot real estate, branding, products, families, boudoir… you name it! Couples, elopements, and weddings are my passion. I can’t think of a better career than the one I have right now. I love human connection equally to nature.

In my spare time you’ll find me hiking every trail I can, skiing or snowboarding, mountain biking, rappelling off a cliff, drinking coffee, exploring a new mountain town, experimenting in the kitchen, reading, watching F1 (team Ferrari ❤️), and spending all the time I can with my loved ones. Take me on an adventure and I’ll be the most hyped up human on the planet.

My goal as a photographer is to give my couples memories. The kind of memories you smile at because you were authentically enjoying yourselves. I’m not about things looking perfectly posed all the time. I love a scrunched up laugh from one of my corny punny jokes, a moment of pure joy, or real tears of happiness. Be yourself, that is all I ever ask; and in return I’ll show you how I see you through my lens. As a person who sees the good in nearly everything, I can’t wait to show you 💕

Photos shot by and edited by me.

PSA: “Getting Ready” “Prep”… whatever you call it is not a bunch of staged moments. It’s intimate and authentic… at least with me. I actually do want you to put these photos in an album or print that moment with your mom or best man helping you dress. Staged moments aren’t as print worthy as the genuine ones where you’re sharing real emotion between you and the people you love most in my opinion. Maybe that’s a bit of a hot take, but I am nothing if not opinionated and this one is backed by facts in my case 😉
