Remove the stamen pollen tips (anthers) from your lilies!! 🌺

Did you know🧐 Those little stalks in the middle of a lily are called stamen. On the top there are brownish pollen-covered capsules called anthers!

Over time as the lily opens, the anthers become very powdery and pollen starts falling all over. This pollen very quickly stains the petals, your skin, and other surfaces, ESPECIALLY fabric (it will leave a prominent orange stain)

Our ✨Floral Design Tip✨
As soon as the lily begins to open and you can see the stamen, gently reach in between the petals and pluck the anthers off the stalks. It is best to take them off at this stage because the anther is not yet shedding pollen, they will feel waxy and are super easy to pluck off! As the lily opens further, the anthers start becoming more and more powdery, so getting them off as soon as possible is key! 🔑

If the pollen has already started to shed, you can use a tissue to grab them to avoid staining your hands. If the pollen has already gotten on the petals, gently brush the pollen off with a pipe cleaner or dry brush rather than wiping, which will smudge and stain the color in deeper.
