A love story for the ages—and a beautiful continuation of family tradition. Ten years after they first met, Claire and Sean exchanged vows at the very same Catholic church where her parents were married 34 years ago. The celebration continued at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, where 75 of their closest family and friends gathered for a magical garden reception that felt straight out of a dream. The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, a rustic boutique resort perched atop the hills overlooking San Diego, was founded in 1923 and designed by a young Lilian Rice to house the railroad company’s citrus farmers as well as travelers. The 21-acre property’s simplistic Spanish-California architecture integrates harmoniously into the natural landscape to create a serene country escape.
LOCATION
The Inn is the social and focal center of the tranquil village of Rancho Santa Fe, a San Diego north county town characterized by lush foliage, towering eucalyptus, winding roads and historic buildings. Hot air balloons float over this hamlet in the hills of horse country and its dark sky policy means uninterrupted nighttime stargazing. Though just a 30-minute drive from Downtown San Diego and the airport, Rancho Santa Fe feels worlds away.
Guests of The Inn are truly in the heart of horse county and just minutes from Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, San Diego Polo Club and numerous riding trails. THE SPA AT THE INN
The Spa at The Inn is a serene sanctuary and holistic healing destination for body & mind, infusing native and raw ingredients into treatments. Guests can relax with a massage or manicure, rejuvenate with a facial or locally-derived body treatment, and recharge with on-site yoga, chakra cleansing or sound meditation.
MORADA
Housed within Lilian Rice’s original 1923 structure, Morada restaurant pays tribute to that early “house of many rooms” in name and homey atmosphere, which has made it a social center of the Rancho Santa Fe community. The restaurant’s seasonal menu of creative California comfort food is paired with a handpicked wine list, craft cocktails, local brews and the laidback elegance of California ranch lifestyle.
THE HUNTSMAN WHISKEY BAR
The Huntsman Whiskey Bar is a salute to an era of exemplary sport & riding and a nod to the old Santa Fe Hunt club. While foxes are safe in The Huntsman, hounds and their owners can still sit by the roaring fire enjoying small batch whiskeys, including a custom-blend Woodford Reserve Bourbon, as well as housemade barrel-aged cocktails and experimental box-smoked libations, all served by resident whiskey educator, Dutch House.
