How much should a catering tasting cost?
One of my favorite parts of working with couples is helping them find vendors who truly fit—and catering is a big one. Tastings shouldn’t just check a box. They should give you a real feel for the food, the service, and how the team treats you.
I recently set up two tastings for one of my 2026 couples, and the difference between them said everything.
The first tasting charged the couple $120 (!!) and then sat at the table the entire time, watching them eat with no space to talk privately or enjoy the moment together.
The second tasting welcomed them like friends, brought out a generous spread of dishes to try, encouraged them to take their time, and even covered the bill. Not to mention the restaurant had a fun atmosphere!
These experiences are exactly why choosing the right caterer—and having someone who knows the industry guiding you—matters so much. The little things tell you a lot.
