Five Common Things Brides Should Know Before Booking A Photographer.
(This is not a complete list nor is it in any specific order.)
1.) DO NOT PAY IN FULL!
- If a photographer is requiring you to pay in full, don't. This is not an industry standard for any type of service. Think about when you get your hair done or if you have work done on your home, there's either a deposit or booking fee but never a full payment before work is completed. That is a BIG red flag 🚩.
2.) GET ALL COMMUNICATION IN WRITING.
- Anything spoken should also be on paper as well. Definitely have a formal written contract between you and your photographer. Make sure you read through it for typos and or adjustments.
3.) ARE THEY AN INSURED PHOTOGRAPHER.
- This is for ease of mind mostly. God forbid anything ever go wrong on your big day but you always want to make sure that you are covered any will not be held responsible by your venue if the photographers equipment accidentally breaks something. Also a photographer who has their documents is usually someone who takes their business seriously and will have the experience needed to make sure your memories are handled with care.
4.) WHAT ARE OTHERS SAYING?
- Look at reviews on their website and on other places they are listed. If they don't have any reviews anywhere, ask for client social media so you can ask couples about their experience. Your photographer should have nothing to hide.
5.) MEET YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER!
- I can't stress this one enough. This individual will potentially be around some of your closest friends and family. You need to make sure that you genuinely think they are a good fit and match your personality style. If you're wild and crazy and want that kind of energy but you meet or have a video chat and the photographer is bland as a slice of bread, then you may want to rethink booking them on your day. It doesn't mean they are bad, just not for you.
I understand that not everyone will be looking for my style of photography so I hope this list helps you get started on your journey to finding the right fit for you! 😀
