In college, I was sitting at Starbucks with my neighbor , studying organic chemistry. I was focused on chemical reactions and equations when I glanced over at her book. She was studying how to deliver a baby.
That moment changed everything.
I realized, right there, that I was studying the wrong thing. I dropped out the next day and enrolled in nursing school. It wasn’t a sudden idea, it felt like finally listening to something I had always known.
I went on to spend over ten years as a nurse, much of that time in the emergency room and labor & delivery. Caring for people became second nature. Being the calm when things feel overwhelming, knowing how to handle newborns, understanding how vulnerable and powerful this season can be, all of that lives at the core of my work now.
Caretaking comes naturally. As a mom of two littles, a wife of an entrepreneur, and an entrepreneur myself, finding ways to take care of me can be my biggest challenge.
How do you recharge? How do you fit it all in? Im learning theres no such thing as balance in this season and I guess thats ok… for now 😝
