If you need a project done, call this group! A request for volunteers to put 3750 labels on 3750 Drug Awareness coloring books went out. At least 30 volunteers showed up and the task was completed in under 2 hours!

These books will be provided to children in Wake, Durham, Orange, Johnston, Edgecombe and Nash Counties by The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, and on behalf of The Raleigh Elks.

A little something different for our April Backpack Buddy volunteer day. Put 7-12 massive sweet potatoes in bags for distribution to those in need. Not all are able to be bagged and must be put in compost, yuk! Still a fun day in Durham!

NEED SIGNUPS FOR FRIDAY HICKORY SMOKED BBQ DINNER- Bob and the Doe's Hickory Smoked BBQ Pork Dinner. Bob's Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork with Parmesan Baked Fries, Cole Slaw, Bread and Dessert $15.00. Sign up sheet is in the lounge, or respond to this email ASAP. To smoke pork takes a long time, so they need to know how much to buy and cook, there might not be enough to serve if you have not signed up.

THURSDAY- Inter Faith Food Shuttle Volunteers peel and stick Elks logos at 6 pm

FRIDAY DINNER-Bob and the Doe's BBQ Pork Dinner. Pulled Pork with Parmesan Baked Fries, Cole Slaw, Bread and Dessert $15.00. Sign up sheet is in the lounge.

Bill would like to let folks know that he needs people to sign up for their teams for the golf tournament on May 18th.

The next meeting for the golf volunteers will be Monday April 17th.

Food is always a good way to say Thank You!

That's what The Raleigh Elks Lodge did on Friday, April 7. Jim Pendergast, through the Army of Hope has done this for the last 6 years! Our own Matt Lundgren and The Wandering Moose Food Truck and Catering Co. cooked and served a pig pickn' to approximately 60 members of the Aviation Squadron of The National Guard.

Thank you to our Service Men and Women!

Jim Pendergast was awarded the Grand Exalted Ruler's Outstanding Service Commendation at the 4/4/23 meeting. This award recognizes Jim's exceptional contributions to the lodge and the Army of Hope Veterans Service over the last 13 years!

I don't think many of us realize how much goes into Army of Hope events. Some of the events include, Pig Pickn' for the Aviation Squadron, Lodge sponsored Military Ball, Thanksgiving meals delivered to thousands of families, back to school party for children of military members, including school supplies and over 200 bikes! Let's not forget the yearly angel tree at holiday time!

This is only a small list of Jim's contributions. Need volunteers for a fundraising event? Jim'll get em for you! Congratulations Jim on a much deserved award!

Patrick Cottrell was given a Certificate of Appreciation for ongoing service to our Lodge at the 4/4/23 meeting. He steps in wherever needed, including another year as Esquire!

Liz Mitchell received the award for Officer Of The Year at the 4/4/23 meeting. Gary noted that Liz is "always there", wherever needed! She is a pleasure to work with and a great asset to the lodge!

The Raleigh Elks held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on 4/2. Great food and fun and adorable kids!!!

Choice of white meat-Bone in Chicken Breast and Wing, or

TUESDAY APRIL 4TH-MEETING NIGHT MEAL-Steak Enchiladas, Beans and Rice, Chips and Salsa and Dessert $8.00 by Jennifer and the Does. There is a sign-up sheet in the lounge.

WEDNESDAY $5.00 MEAL APRIL 5TH- The volunteers had to bow out this day, looking for someone to volunteer a meal.
