Raleigh Elks Lodge #735 was a sponsor of the Field of Dreams event in Wake Forest, NC on May 11, 2022! The Wake Forest High School JROTC organize this annual event for special needs children from several schools. The special needs young adults from seven area high schools were buddied with a softball or baseball player from their respective schools for a fun game of baseball. The event included the JROTC Color Guard, singing of the National Anthem by the Wake Forest Choir, and the first pitch by Wool E. Bull from the Durham Bulls. Raleigh Elks Lodge has been a proud sponsor of this annual event for 10 years! Together, 14 volunteers cooked and wrapped 460 hot dogs and served those with chips and a drink to ALL athletes, attendees, and other volunteers at the game. The amount of work needed to work this event is amazing and it couldn't have been done without EVERY ONE of the 14 volunteers that came out that day! A big shout out to Debra Baker, Michelle Delaire, Barb Amos, Cherie Grant, Cheryl Howard, Erick Leopold, Linda Elliott, Merle Freeman, Mike Mitchell, Mike Visgauss, Ricky Davis, Ruth Claerhaut, Susan DeKarske, Trudy Mullins.

I want to thank you all for your support for our Backpack Buddies in the past! For those who may be new, Backpack Buddies is a program through the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle that ensures "food insecure" children have food over the weekend. These children receive breakfast and lunch while they are in school, but many don't have food again until they return to school from the weekends.

With the pandemic, the focus changed a little to include Family Food Boxes and toiletry bags. Unfortunately this is ongoing today.

You have been wonderful in the past when donation boxes were placed at the members' entrance to the lodge. I will be setting up the donation box next week, and hope I can count on your support!

I will have flyers available so you'll know what kinds of food they are needing for the "buddies". If you prefer not to shop, I will be happy to do that for you!

Please contact me with any questions

Happy Derby Day from the Raleigh Elks!
Will you be having bingo anytime soon really miss it.
All presale tickets for the chicken barbecue (sold or unsold) need to be turned in by Monday evening please! We need to get an idea on how many chickens to order so we will need our pre-sale tickets turned in no later than Monday night. They can be given to the bartender or handed to Michael Kuharcik Jr. (Jersey Jr) on game night Monday. Thank you and enjoy your Easter Weekend! 🐰
Zeb Alford made 23 of 25 free throws at the 2009 Hoop Shoot National Finals—then he went on to sink 74 more. Zeb, sponsored by Raleigh Elks Lodge #735, set the record for the longest tiebreaker after tying with another Finalist for first. They went shot-for-shot for 75 additional baskets. Today, when Zeb faces a challenge, he thinks back to the Hoop Shoot and remembers that consistent hard work pays off. Zeb will return to the National Finals this year as a member of the BackBoard--he's also a member of the inaugural class of the Elks Hoop Shoot Hall of Fame. He’s excited to share his story with the Finalists and be a part of their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. #HoopShoot50 #HS50Flashback

Go, Skylar and thank you Raleigh Elks Club #735 for this amazing opportunity for our members!
On Tuesday, December 21st, Terry Rodabaugh, Cheryl Remson Howard and Angie Edwards delivered 40 individual Christmas Gift bags, 2 Gift bags with extra goodies and a Christmas stocking to the veterans. Each gift bag contained a shoe box container of toiletries, a personal electric razor, a twin size throw blanket, a deck of playing cards, a ball cap and a bag of sugarless candy. The extra bags and stocking had t-shirts, batteries and the two DVD player pictured below. We didn't get to see any of the veterans as they are still on lock down but the recreation therapy folks said they would be thrilled. We also delivered $900 worth of cash and gift cards. My heart is full. Thank you to the members of Raleigh Elks Lodge #735, the bingo committee and the GL ENVSC!! Merry Christmas!! Can't believe I forgot to mention the WONDERFUL handmade cards from Jennifer Friedhaber LeGoullon 's class and the Thank you veterans cards from the 1st graders at Sycamore Creek ❤❤❤❤ they were the sweetest!!
On Sunday, December 12th Alice Morse and Angie Edwards delivered Christmas bags for 20 women to the Fayetteville Veterans Home. Each bag contained toiletry items in a Christmas storage container, a personal electric razor, a pair of slippers and a BEAUTIFUL crocheted blanket donated by Karen Schaeffer, wife of Dean Schaeffer. They were very appreciative. Thanks to all members of the Raleigh Elks Lodge #735
