Stories of love awaken curiosity and hope...Every couple has different histories and stories and inspiration to they're life and their wedding.

Details of course are impacted in that journey. What's included or not, but the history of each detail... Their stories are a short story of the couple. Yet sometimes the things they might want to include don’t work aesthetically, like this bride, had her mothers and her grandmother’s veils but with age, and they had yellowed, and the contrast, her vibrant white dress wasn’t something that could be overcome.

But it was something that I could include in the detail shots, that I took as to still embrace the history of the marriages before them. It is these small things that make such a difference in the story you photos tell

A gasp of joy and tears as Jaime and John exchanged vows privately at the beautiful gazebo at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, it was such a beautiful moment!

The best secret I've learned to have more joy...

Taking the time to notice my life through innocent eyes.

What do I mean? Noticing the daily mundane of your life, the things we overlook as just common and seeing them as new, novel, miraculous; a gift.

Like going to the bathroom only to have every last one of my kids follow me because they desire my time, attention and affection enough to endure the proximity to smell and funk.

Like watching my 2 year old navigate learning how to properly eat with utensils and seeing his tiny triumphs while his belly and face are covered in yogurt.

Like slowing down enough to see the way the sun hits the dew on the tall grass my neighbors really desire me to have already cut 😂

Today, right now... what is something you see everyday that you could stop and see the gift it really is?

“Hey lady!” John called in the empty streets of downtown Raleigh…

Having no idea they had arrived I replied “yes?” as I turned to see their smiling faces.

We had only met one time before but I knew that we were fast friends in the making and this only proved the point.

It didn’t take long for Jamie and John to see how natural, easy and fun the session would be and how confident they would feel.

Being photogenic is something everyone is if they are helped to feel at home and given the freedom to just be themselves.

I can’t wait to edit the rest of these photos and for their up coming wedding!!

He slowly sauntered towards the wedding, like the pied Piper of good friends, he came with a train of people ready to step into action to get the arbor made and decorated for their wedding in less than an hour.

Laughter ands knowing jokes filled the air all the way up till the bride floated down the stairs, train of her dress cascading behind her.

It was a joy to be with Kevin and Tiani on their wedding day, thank you for the honor!

Happy Mother's day.

To those of you who
- are mothers (in heart and desire or in physicality)
-have mothers
-have hurt and wounds around this holiday
-wish you had the experience of a loving mother or to be a loving mother

First I would like to say: this day is a day about love and sacrifice. This is something we all can relate to no matter your gender or life, you either can relate to it because you have felt it or because you have not.

My wish for you all would be that you know... in your bones... feel throughout your body the love of the person who made me realize what love and peace really was, God. Not some religion or some check list. But the truth of the full out furious passion to love you that is God.

So to you all, every last one of you: I wish you a day where you feel loved.

By the breeze in your hair
by the sounds of birds
by the giggles of children
by the need for you attention yet again by small hands
by the time for silence
by the time with a close friend
by the endless ways in which we can see and feel love in a day, may you have them all!

One day to celebrate the efforts and sacrifices of a mother is laughable...

but what about motherhood isn't?
It is a comedy of importance and forgotten.
The juxtaposition of doing nothing and everything.
The myriad of action and nothing.
It is a beautiful poem... something beautiful but often makes no sense to those who don't know it.

The pastor asked Freda. Without missing a beat her soft chuckling reply, "not at all, he is more than a keeper"

The sweet smiles and radiant joy filled her face everytime they faced each other.

Mark told of their past adventures and excitement for their tour of Italy to come.

This intimate wedding was exactly what they wanted: relaxed and focused on family and good food!

It was such a joy to get to tell their love story

The pearls were the same ones worn by the last 3 generations of brides in their family. As her mother fingered clasping the stand around get daughters neck she seemed to hold her breath to fight back the tears that threatened...

Those tiny moments are why I'm there, to capture them and help you recall all the feelings of the day so filled with memories. It is also why I love detail shots, while this photo isn't one you'd frame it is one that helps tell your love story in your heirloom photo album when you tell this story to your future grandkids.

The whoops could be heard all thru Cary as new Mr and Mrs Mills Made their way to their getaway trolley.

Thru the years those couple had gathered not only their love but their loved ones, and a village of support. It showed on this day just as it did in their daily life.

To be an added member of this amazing crew was an honor and blessing. I never get over the joy I am allowed at capturing not photos but moments for you to relive over and over again as y tell your kids about the day your family started...
