All the strings we pull behind the scenes ✨

What does it take to run a festival? Most people experience the vendor lineup, the food, the music, the vibes.

Vendor Curation 🛍️ We receive hundreds of applications per festival. Every vendor and food truck gets reviewed, the selection process is even more intentional for our themed events. The lineup has to fit the vision, not just fill the space.

The Permit Process 🖊️ This one has the most moving parts. We're talking letters of intent, street closure coordination, fire department permits, site maps, safety plans, security and police logistics, restroom placement, trash management, business notifications for everyone in the affected footprint, and insurance requirements. This process alone takes weeks.

Outside Vendors 🛻 We hire a cleaning crew to keep the event clean throughout the day, a barricade company to secure the perimeter before gates open, restroom rentals, and security and police to manage safety and alcohol compliance. On top of that, our team is loading and unloading a full U-Haul of equipment before and after every single event.

The Experience 🎶 Build Stages, musicians, performers, lawn games, lounges. Every element is sourced and coordinated individually. Nothing is plug-and-play.

Marketing 📱Paid social ads, organic content, influencer partnerships, local event calendars, our newsletter, and external placements. Marketing is always a months-long effort per event.

Every festival starts planning long before you see a single post about it. We typically start planning our festivals at least 6-8 months before the festival. There is always so much intention is all that we do at our MAKRS Festivals, and we sure do hope it shows!

Great products matter, but so does the experience you create. It is important to us that ALL our vendors find success at our events and beyond 🧡

What a day 🌎✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the very first Around the World, Raleigh!

What started as a dream in 2025 became a reality thanks to an incredible community of artisans, food vendors, performers, cultural organizations, coordinators, and attendees who believed in the vision. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate cultures from around the world was nothing short of inspiring.

From the amazing food and handcrafted goods to the stories, traditions, and connections shared throughout the day, every part of this event was made special by the people who showed up and brought it to life.

To every vendor, organization, sponsor, volunteer, and guest: thank you for helping us create something truly memorable.

This was just the beginning. We are already dreaming bigger, thinking bolder, and looking ahead to what Around the World, Raleigh can become in 2027. We can't wait to continue growing this event and creating even more opportunities to celebrate the incredible diversity and creativity that make our community so special.
