Arnav and Shruti’s wedding at Legacy Stables was a celebration from beginning to end.

The weekend kicked off with a Baraat and Sangeet that brought all the energy, music, dancing, and excitement you could hope for. The kind of night where everyone was fully in it and the celebration seemed to get bigger with every song.

The next day brought a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends, with so many meaningful moments woven throughout the day.

What I loved most was how much fun everyone was having. There was so much joy, so much movement, and so many little moments that made their celebration feel completely alive.

Two days, one incredible celebration, and a whole lot of memories for Arnav and Shruti to carry with them.

Every year, I try to make space for a retreat.

Not because I need another vacation, but because I need the reminder that there’s more to this work than the next wedding, the next edit, or the next deadline.

For the past four years, Roam has given me that space.

This year, five days in Ouray, Colorado meant hiking, rock climbing, filming together, learning from great speakers, sharing meals, and spending time with people who understand what it’s like to build a life and business in the wedding industry.

But more than anything, it gave me a chance to step away and come back refreshed, inspired, and reminded of why I love what I do.

I think every wedding creative needs that from time to time.

Step away. Get around good people. Learn something new. Rest. Reconnect.

There’s something about Ouray that makes a wedding feel like an adventure. It is timely reminder that a beautiful wedding does not have to feel overly designed. Sometimes the best backdrop is simply a place that already feels like a story.

Natural moments are usually what I’m drawn to most.

The moments I didn’t ask for. The laugh that happens between takes. The way someone reaches for their partner. The little reactions that happen when people forget the camera is there.

But I don’t think that means every moment has to be completely unplanned.

There’s still a place for direction in my workflow.

Sometimes I’ll move a couple into better light, ask them to slow down, or give them a simple prompt. But I don’t want that direction to end with everyone freezing into a pose.

I’ll often let the camera keep rolling and give people time to move, react, laugh, and interact naturally.

Because even within a directed moment, something unexpected can happen.

For me, it’s not really about choosing natural or directed.

It’s about knowing when to step in and when to step back.

The goal is never just to make a beautiful image.

It’s to capture something that feels like you.

Jermaine + Ashley | The Teaser
There was something timeless about their day, but what I keep coming back to is Jermaine’s vows.

He drew from Psalm 31 and the picture of a noble wife, speaking about Ashley with so much admiration and gratitude. It was more than simply telling her that he loved her. It was a reflection of the woman he sees in her and the kind of life he feels honored to build alongside her.

Those are the words that stay with you.

And then, after all those emotions, the dance floor opened and the night came alive like never before.

An unforgettable celebration for a couple whose story is just beginning.

My process on a wedding day is pretty simple: observe first, direct when needed, and always stay ready.

I start by paying attention to what’s happening around me. The little interactions, the anticipation, the details, and the moments that happen naturally.

When a moment needs a little direction, I’ll step in and create it. But I don’t want to manufacture every moment just for the sake of getting a shot.

I’d rather give people space to forget about the camera and let things unfold.

And when the dance floor opens up, I switch gears and look for ways to bring out the energy and personality of the people in front of me.

For me, filmmaking is about finding that balance between creating a beautiful image and capturing something real.

Because I don’t want to just show you what the wedding looked like.

I want you to feel like you were there.
